It is with deep regret that we have to announce the death of our very good friend and moderator Ubon Joe following a short illness.

 

Joe Reedy, 73, a dedicated individual and beloved moderator, passed away in Ubon Ratchathani, leaving behind a lasting impact on the lives he touched.  Among his many services, Joe served as an expert on visa issues for aseannow.com.   He joined the forum in 2008.  

Born in the United States, Joe dedicated ten years of his life to serving his country as a jet engine technician in the US Air Force from 1968 to 1978.  Joe's relocation to Thailand over 17 years ago, followed the devastating loss of his wife to cancer.  He eventually remarried and settled in Ubon Ratchathani.  

Embracing his passion for community service, Joe became a member of American Legion Post TH01 in Ubon. He actively participated in various roles, serving as a member-at-large and the Public Affairs Officer.

 

Through his involvement, Joe displayed a deep commitment to fellow veterans, ensuring their voices were heard and their needs were met.

He will be remembered as a resilient and honorable man who dedicated his life to serving others, both in his military career and in his commitment to going above and beyond the call of duty in helping the many people with questions and concerns about traveling, working or living in Thailand.  He has had a profound effect on the lives of many.

 

Joe is survived by two daughters from the US, his wife in Thailand and his adopted daughter, who graduated from University and is now married.

Very sad news and a great loss not only to this forum where he was an absolute pillar of support to others,but to many other people and organisations to which he was affiliated.

Sad, i wondered why he'd gone missing lately

It hit me about a week ago that I hadn't seen any post from him. Really sad news.

Always received a  positive news feedback and response when asking info concerning Immigration matters visas ect from Ubon Joe

He will be missed

A little bit of Aseannow has died with him.  He was the encyclopedia of Thailand's visa laws, and everything in between the lines of those visa laws, and helped so many people over the years.  He will be missed.

A real rock of this forum. I too have been helped by Joe. Irreplaceable was said before but is the best way to describe him and his presence.  RIP. 

His knowledge of Immigration matters was encyclopaedic . Once you’d encountered his post there really was no need to read any further posts for the right answer. His promptness in responding sometimes made me wonder whether he ever slept ! 
A huge loss to us all. ????

As all have, and will say, R I P to a major contributor to forum and peoples stays in Thailand - his postings have undoubtedly helped many of us here.  

What a shock.

Of course his absence made me wonder what has happened.

Always calm, always helpful.
