Kooky Palang Pracharat move rejected on Tuesday by Prawit as Pheu Thai stands by Pita for PM
by Carla Boonkong & Pranee O' Connor

image.jpeg

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan Tuesday rubbished reports circulating since Monday that he intended to resign as leader of the Palang Pracharat Party and disband it under some arrangement with Pheu Thai. The news was quickly scotched on Monday by the Pheu Thai leadership, claiming it remained committed to the ‘Government of Hope’ coalition with the Move Forward Party and installing Mr Pita Limjaroenrat as Thailand’s 30th prime minister.

Palang Pracharat Party leadership on Tuesday rejected spurious reports that the party was to disband so that its members could join the Pheu Thai Party, a proposal immediately rejected by Pheu Thai’s leadership who on the same day committed itself to a new ‘Government of Hope’ with the Move Forward Party under Pita Limjaroenrat as Prime Minister.

Thais must disregard coup and betrayal rumors and stick together
By Arun Saronchai

image.jpeg

In a functioning democracy, the winning party would be celebrating its victory and forming a government with like-minded parties. But alas, Thailand is not a fully functioning democracy. Instead of a moment of respite and joy, the Move Forward Party has been the center of a million political rumors from coalition betrayal, to being an agent of a foreign power, to the possibility of another coup.
