Russian tourists are continuing to flock to Thailand’s holiday paradise of Phuket. Yesterday morning, officials and staff at Phuket International Airport welcomed the first Red Wings Airlines flight from Zhukovsky, Russia, to Phuket. The flight carried 400 passengers.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Russians were Thailand’s fourth largest tourist group this year, with a total of 115,743 tourists so far.

In March, it was reported that over 7,000 Russians in Phuket were applying for visa extensions in a bid to stay in Thailand. Local immigration chief, Thanet Sukchai, said the great weather was one factor in their attempts to stay.

Thanet said there were 7,596 Russian nationals seeking to extend their stays, mostly in Muang, Thalang, and Kathu districts.

The countries with the most tourists in Thailand, as reported earlier this month, were:

  1. Malaysia (367,530)
  2. China (328,375)
  3. India (131,230)
  4. Russia (115,743)
  5. South Korea (95,229)
  6. Vietnam (84,221)
  7. United States (70,977)
  8. United Kingdom (70,089)
  9. Laos (68,204)
  10. Hong Kong (67,771)

Sanctions threaten Russian aviation safety: Expired components and concealed malfunctions

A number of leaks expose the risks taken by the companies, like the 2,000 flights that took off with outdated parts

Russian airplanes continue to fly in the midst of the storm. The country’s airlines transported 95.1 million passengers last year, and their volume of activity has further increased this year. Sanctions as a result of the invasion of Ukraine have made it impossible for Russian companies to purchase certain spare parts to maintain their aircraft since February 2022, but it seems that nothing has changed for the passengers. However, a series of leaks has uncovered the industry’s negligence in ensuring safety. Inspections by a Transportation Ministry agency called Rostransnadzor have revealed that at least 2,000 flights took off with components that had passed their operational lifespan. What’s more, a new investigation has found that Russia’s flagship airline Aeroflot instructed its aircraft personnel not to record in-flight malfunctions unless specifically directed to do so by the captain.

ahaha 68k laos tourists. ooooooooook johnny.

If you lived in Udon Thani, you'd notice many of the HiSo Lao pop over to do quite a bit of shopping.  As long as they're spending, in goes into the economy.

Along with a bit of medical tourism, and Udon Thani BKK Hosp, along with the highly regarded Cancer Center there.

Also go to Khon Kaen excellent cardiac departments.  Even the expats and HiSo Thais go down to KK for that.

Pretty much the same as Thais, but they drive SUVs & 4X4s w/Laos plates on their vehicles.

Some even wear their work clothes (chefs) and empty the frozen meat section at Makro, or wheel boxes out before they even make it to the display cases.

Need to pay attention to details sometimes, its not hard.  As always, I rely on what I see, and my experiences, to form thoughts & opinions.

When driving over to Laos, noticed a lot more traffic coming into TH.

Obviously, the website is lying about meeting international standards.

Why must they be lying?  Are there any confirmed reports of their Airbus and Boeing aircraft being compromised by being defective in any way or failing to meet international safety standards?

Do you really think that airlines do not keep stocks of spares for aircraft on their fleets or do you think that they wait until they need a part, after sanctions have been imposed, and then try to order them one by one?

all russian flights are unsafe as they have no certs of air worthyness and no correct spare parts

Nonsense.

Why do you think that they have no correct spare parts?

I find most moral compasses are defective & hypocritical.  But that's for another thread.
