UPDATE Arintharat Commandos Storm House to Arrest ‘Tae Wat Yang’ After 17-Hour Stand-Off Picture courtesy of Matichon. Police have successfully apprehended Natthawat, widely known as “Tae Wat Yang”, in the early hours of the morning of 16 May, following a tense 17-hour stand-off at his residence in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Si district. The arrest operation was led by Police Lieutenant General Samran Nuanma, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, alongside Metropolitan Police Commissioner Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom and Deputy Commissioner Police Major General Nopphasin Poolsawat. Officers from the elite Arintharat 26 commando unit were deployed on-site. At approximately 00:15, officers fired a single round at the front door to gain entry into the house. Inside, Natthawat was found in an exhausted state and was immediately taken into custody and transferred to Bang Khun Non Police Station. Lt. Gen. Samran stated that the extended operation time was necessary due to the suspect being armed and engaging in gunfire with police officers during the initial standoff. The drawn-out negotiations aimed to wear down the suspect’s resistance and avoid escalation. “The operation was carried out according to tactical procedures. After the prolonged stand-off, we entered using minimum force and were able to apprehend the suspect without further incident,” he said. Authorities confirmed that Natthawat will be tested for drug use, with further legal action to follow pending the results. Initially, he faces two serious charges: attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and illegal possession of a firearm. As of now, all educational institutions are required to submit detailed curricula for their short courses to ensure compliance with these new regulations. Minister Supamas Isarabhakdi emphasised that the measures are intended to align foreign students with legal standards and existing agreements with the Immigration Bureau. Institutions wanting to offer short courses will now face stringent scrutiny. They need to prove their expertise, competence in instruction, and present clear learning outcomes. Each course must ensure 60% of learning is onsite with no more than 40% online, assuring robust Thai educational standards are maintained. Detailed course information is mandatory, including various academic and logistical details like course name, duration, and student qualifications. Aside from academic accreditation, institutions must also manage administrative responsibilities related to foreign students. This includes issuing certificates and securing temporary residence permits strictly based on the course's needs, limited to 180-day periods. Institutions are also tasked with maintaining detailed records and reporting to MHESI, including student attendance and academic progress, ensuring transparency and lawful compliance. Failure to adhere to these regulations could lead to course cancellations enforced by MHESI. Minister Supamas expressed confidence that these guidelines will enhance Thailand’s reputation in the international education sector, offering a transparent and efficient system that attracts foreign learners while preventing illegal employment practices. In summary, these initiatives mark a significant push towards integrating foreign students into Thailand's educational framework legally and ethically. By enforcing these measures, Thailand hopes to foster an environment of trust and excellence for international students seeking learning opportunities within the country. Which bank has the best current account
Impossible to tell for sure without clicking through the different options, so this is just guesswork. It is my understanding that Activate refers to a new card that has not been activated. Greyed out implies that your card has been activated, meaning, the issue is elsewhere. I would click through the Lock/Unlock and Change Limits options and see what the settings are and if they need adjustments. Or even the Suspend option (in case your card is in Suspend=YES state and needs to be unsuspended). All else fails, you're right, it may take a trip to a branch, but I'm sure one way or another you'll be able to get your card to work. Btw, hearing about all of the CC and ATM card scams it's probably a good idea to keep your card in a locked state, and only unlock it briefly when you are using it.
