At the very least he did not steal the entire country at the point of a gun.

And if that isn't by illegal, criminal and unethical manner. All the coup generals should be behind bars for life with NO remission.

Thank God for military coups!

There was no other way to remove Taksin, who a threat to the whole Constitution.

Beside killing thousands of 'criminals' extrajudicially, he screwed the poor people of Thailand by fooling them into buying his products by giving them free cheap phones.

It is not legal to buy votes.

OK.

On the other hand the initial poster (and many others) offers little real / proven truth in numerous posts.

correct, just the regurgitation of more than often incorrect one-sided drivel,  like the following.  "........... innocent live he took in the south where he planted drugs on the already dead body and told people he caught another drug dealer."

Maybe Big Joke should investigate how this Chinese criminal obtained Thai citizenship.

Rubbish, Thaksin IS a Thai citizen and definitely not a Chinese criminal. For reference Wikipedia:-

Thaksin's great-grandfather, Seng Saekhu, was an immigrant from Meizhou, Guangdong, China, who arrived in Siam in the 1860s and settled in Chiang Mai in 1908. His eldest son, Chiang Saekhu, was born in Chanthaburi in 1890 and married a local named Saeng Samana. Chiang's eldest son, Sak, adopted the Thai surname Shinawatra in 1938 because of the country's anti-Chinese movement, and the rest of the family also adopted it.[9]

Thaksin was born in San Kamphaeng, Chiang Mai Province. He is a Theravada Buddhist. He lived in the village of San Kamphaeng until he was 15, then moved to Chiang Mai to study at Montfort College. At 16, he helped run one of his father's cinemas.[11]

Your post shows the difference between somebody who does some research before posting, and somebody who doesn't.

Mind you, the Thaksin haters on this forum will simply ignore it.

Thank you.

I think that if there was a chance of prison, he definitely wouldn’t come back.

In the normal course of events / in the normal standard judicial processes he will be arressted when he sets foot on Thai soil and taken to jail.

But right now he's making a lot of noise insisting he will come back.

So what's happening? Does he have some personal way to be outside of the laws of Thailand?

Lots of questions.

Another question for you.

The current illegal coup government generals found a way?

Prayuth simply granted an amnesty for all past, present and future acts.

Who is to say that they have not done the same for Thaksin?

I take your points however what the military did is absolutely not the intent of the law. But yes they did it.

A question - is it likely the military would tell the courts to specifically overturn thaksins convictions / sentencing to jail terms?

Rightly or wrongly I very much doubt the military would do that.

If they did do that then surely the military could play GOD on any sentence given by a court on any Thai citizen.

In other words total chaos, total destruction of the rule of law.
