Germany has made a vaccine donation of almost one million doses of the bivalent Covid-19 vaccine to the Thai Ministry of Public Health, planning to distribute this significant stockpile to Thai hospitals in the forthcoming weeks.

 

This considerable vaccine donation was welcomed by Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul during an official handover ceremony at the German embassy yesterday. The ceremony was conducted by Germany’s ambassador to Thailand, Georg Schmidt. Precisely 999,360 doses of the bivalent Pfizer-manufactured Covid vaccine were given to the Thai Ministry.

 

The gesture was warmly appreciated by Charnvirakul. He expressed his gratitude to the German government, emphasizing that the generous vaccine donation mirrors over a century and a half of friendly relations between the two nations.

Germany has continually extended its hand in aid towards Thailand during the pandemic. Beyond contributing to reducing Covid cases in Thailand, Germany has also supported wider Asean region efforts.

yes it is like 8 or 10 shots per citizen in the EU + countries additional ordered some. Contracts made per SMS on the mobile phone and Pfizer Boss is a kiss-kiss friend from Von der Leyen....

she was before defense minister in Germany, where she complete failed. She was on no list at the election...she was truly selected and put in position (everyone from Europe who complain about democracy in Thailand should look at that case).

It is not incompetent OR corrupt. It is incompetent AND corrupt and complete shameless.

 

I do understand that in such a situation you over purchase to be on the safe side. But a lot of the purchase was made when there was no shortage of supply anymore, there was already oversupply.

EU parliament requested the documents and got blackened pages.....That is a huge scandal but no one seems to care.

This man makes me sick, the sooner he is gone the better

Just like the UK just signed a 10 year contract for 250 million mrna doses per year from Moderna.

Gee thanks Germany!! Now that the pandemic is over it's so kind of you to send your left over and unused vaccine that's probably close to expiration or already expired to make yourselves look good.

Correct. Not that urgent. It's just another respiratory illness now.

 

"Infection prevention at all costs" is no longer a key public health strategy in most countries, and it appears Thailand is finally joining the rest of the world in following this.

They're clearly intended to help poor countries to get vaccines under an international agreement struck early on. Ex ept for the US where the then president cut WHO funding for vaccines.
