Residents in the southern province of Krabi condemned two foreign men for their unruly behaviour after they put their lives in danger to climb a 16-metre tsunami warning tower on Ao Nang Beach. Witnesses speculated that the duo was under the influence of alcohol.

 

A 25 year old Thai woman shared a video of the two foreigners with the Thai news agency. The footage taken at 11pm on Wednesday, June 21, depicted the two foreign men climbing the warning tower and screaming out loud in exhilaration at their audacity.

 

The Thai woman, Ameeroon Luebasani, a staff member of a nearby shopping mall says that she saw two foreign women and two foreign men walking out of an entertainment venue in an intoxicated state.

 

According to Ameeroon, as police officers approached the scene on their motorcycles the foreign women demanded the two men come down. The men rushed down and quickly left the scene. Luckily, no one sustained any injuries during this incident and no damage was done to the tower.

 

Ameeroon stated that she did not get angry at the foreigners, but she was concerned about the image of Krabi province if an accident occurred. She speculated that people would blame the local community for failing to ensure the safety of their foreign visitors.

The "righteous indignation" of these folks always tickles me.  I would make a wager that the warning tower doesn't even function in the first place.  TBS, people should not be climbing up and down on it.

Krabi used to be nice and quiet. Not anymore.

What can one say? A very tiny event, and outrage seems to be a sport these days. One has to feel, for people who allow such small things to upset their day

Well to be fair there is no safety if it's that easy to climb on to that ladder, If your that concerned lady protest to those who built it, and ensure they fit some gate or lock to prevent this happening to EVERY body in your community, stop thinking of Face and get the 'fix' in place.

Well, unlike me Mike, it seems you have never helped out any of the volenteers that are called out every night of the year to help clean up the injured and dead foreigners.

If you had you might rethink your attitude. they pay for fuel, vehicles etc etc and donate their own time and foreigners almost never thank them assuming that it is all paid for by the "government".

They have better things to do than to mop up after foreign idiots with no respect.

I get your point. But we do have a choice whether or not we want to surrender our peace of mind and quality of life to "daily outrage". That is the trivial part of the equation.
