Popular Post webfact Posted June 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 24, 2023 The fifth anniversary of the Tham Luang cave rescue will be observed with a merit-making ceremony honouring the deceased – including Nang Nom’s governor, Seaman Sam and Young Dom. The preparations for the ceremony have been initiated at various sacred spots within the park and will include a homage to the Lady of Nang Non. PR.Thailand shared pictures of the preparations on their Facebook page yesterday. The commemoration ceremony is due to pay respects to the deceased Narongsak Osatanakorn, also known as Wild Boar Governor, Navy Mechanic Saman Kunan, widely recognised as Seaman Sam, and Duangpetch Phromthep or Young Dom. Alongside this, annual merits will be sought from the Lady of Nang Non and the revered objects in a ceremony marking five years since the cave rescue. The event is scheduled to commence today at 8am in the Tham Luang Khun Nam Nang Non-National Park, in Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province. There was an awards ceremony in Bangkok for many of the foreign rescuers - reference: King Vajiralongkorn has conferred various honors on 187 people in connection with the rescue, 113 of them foreigners including Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk, who were involved in the effort, according to the Royal Gazette in March. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-thailand-accident-cave-australia-idUSKCN1RV0RC Several of the foreign rescuers are imortalised in a large mural which is on permanent display in the museum at the Tham Luang site. I checked this the other day and the coroner's formal review hearing is due on the 6th July 2023 (next month). Professor Catherine Mason, senior coroner for Leicester City and South Leicestershire, said: "A cause of death has been provided. The cause of death is provisional until the formal hearing. Leicestershire Police said last week his death was not believed to be suspicious. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-leicestershire-64732942 1
