Popular Post Don Chance
I can't remember ever having a very good hair cut in Thailand. Maybe i'm too cheap at 100-150 baht but it seems to be the going local rate. I tried a google recommendation a while ago and it was a disaster. Most Thai's simply have no formal training at hair cutting. But i often see Thai's with really sharp haircuts? Seems anywhere in a tourist zone is a no no. 1 2 1

Popular Post Etaoin Shrdlu
My son said that the last time he went to the local barber, who charges 100 baht, he got a bad haircut. My experience is quite different: I get a bad haircut there every time. 1 1

jaywalker2
During the pandemic, I started cutting my hair myself. It looks no worse than most of the haircuts I've had over the years. It does help if you have someone who will tidy up the back for you.
Myran
Asians and westerners have very different hair, so unless you go to someone with lots of experience cutting westerners' hair, chances are it's not gonna be perfect. The bit more expensive places in tourist areas are usually the best choice.
Popular Post Cabradelmar
Love the cheap charlies who think they can get a good haircut for 100-150 baht... A good cut, from someone who can swing a pair of scissors (and not just an electric clipper) is going to cost you 300-500 baht, minimum. 8 1 2 2
Popular Post ChrisKC
I am not sure what the "the best haircut" for a man, even means. I have been here 20 years and never had anything I would call a "bad" haircut, ranging from B20 to B200 and most of those by women! For the last three years. my wife, who is not a hairdresser has been cutting my hair for free! Absolutely fine!! If you want Styling, that may be different! 2 1

An extension to the "big car-small pecker" syndrome maybe? 2 1 1 2

In all fairness...I used to get a pretty good fade in Chiang Mai for 250 with tip. Bangkok...forget it...600-700 is the range to get a proper fade Edited June 29, 2023 by happydreamer

Popular Post BangkokHank
4 hours ago, Don Chance said: I can't remember ever having a very good hair cut in Thailand. Ha. Exactly. I had been using a 150-baht place near my home for the past year - with what I considered to be just tolerable results. Then I tried a 600-baht place near the Emporium a few weeks ago, and it was a DISASTER! So I went back to my 150-baht place today with a new sense of appreciation for my cheap but tolerable haircut. My philosophy about haircuts in Thailand now is: It's going to be a bad haircut in any case, so it might as well be cheap. Several of my Thai barbers over the years have actually blamed MY HAIR for the bad haircuts. I was starting to accept their explanation - until I went to India for a vacation - and had the best haircut of my life - for 30 baht. So it's not so much a matter of the price. It's a matter of Thais generally not being able to cut farang hair very well. Unfortunately, I can't go to India every time I need a haircut. 2
Kalorymetr
https://goo.gl/maps/BTpAfhMHueAMGomE9 Have been going there for 2 years. Guy is great, used to be 250b, now its 300. The last 15 years I have had my hair cut by a great female cutter. After covid the prices went up to 120 for a shave and a cut. She is quite happy when I give her 150. Plenty of these all over Thailand. You just need to know where to look. I dont know of any long term residents who pay the price you quote. Most often the higher price is because they are in a mall or a pricy area. Lots of great barbers and stylists for the locals bro. 1 1

A fade is where they blend the length of your hair that results from using different length setting on the clipper blades. There's different variations of it depending on hair length, thickness, style, and how you want it to grow out. I've run across only a few barbers that can do this properly here. My guy can do it with clippers and with Scissors, depending on what I tell hime I want done on top.
