snoop1130
Up to 90% of Chinese arrivals in Thailand at present are independent travellers, with the tour group market accounting for just 10%.” Tourism officials in Thailand remain optimistic that the kingdom will welcome 5 million Chinese tourists this year. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has set a target of 5.3 million visitors from China, generating revenue of 446 billion baht. This is a downgrade from their own predictions earlier this year of a robust return of Chinese tourists into Thailand. However, according to a Nation Thailand report, there are a number of challenges that must first be overcome if this target is to be met. One of the most significant is that Thailand is competing with several other destinations trying to woo Chinese tourists. A further complication is the ongoing recovery in the global aviation industry. There are still not enough flights to Thailand to meet demand, meaning some Chinese travellers have opted to visit other countries instead. But the airlines say they will cater for the demand but, at this time, the demand simply isn’t there. By Peter Roche Caption: Chinese tourists in Thailand prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. They only got the year wrong. 1
Popular Post Gknrd
I live on the Texas border with Mexico, Chineses are fleeing China and trying to get into the US by the hundreds. Can we ship them to Thailand for a nice vacation... TAT, contact the border patrol and add a few thousand to your stats. Chinese are getting as bad as the Mexicans trying to swim the river and enter the US. Edited June 29, 2023 by Gknrd 1 3
Popular Post Blumpie
Wrote this many many times. Chinese tourism will be down for many many many years yet. The government does not want them travelling and they are having a difficult time getting passports. It's a strange country and not open like other countries. 3

If that is true, then I expect a further drop in the chinese tourists as the airlines will not cater to half full planes
Caldera
Thailand's reputation as a rip-off destination seems to be strong in China nowadays, which suits the Chinese government well, as they'd rather have their people holiday within China.

Western firms are leaving China in droves, people with university degrees working as janitors, the mortgage debacle hasn't been resolved and according to one article on Youtube China has misrepresented its GDP to the tune of 16 trillion Dollars, the Chinese are not happy campers. I doubt they will get a million to come here.

They did spend more per day that year than any other nationality.
Gknrd
China has a lot of problems with the middle class. Geopolitically it will never come back to the old norm. Edited June 30, 2023 by Gknrd
