Tourism officials in Thailand remain optimistic that the kingdom will welcome 5 million Chinese tourists this year. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has set a target of 5.3 million visitors from China, generating revenue of 446 billion baht. This is a downgrade from their own predictions earlier this year of a robust return of Chinese tourists into Thailand.

AFTER a woman’s left leg was severed till the knee by a moving walkway at Don Mueang Airport early tyesterdaqy morning (June 29) it has led to netizens criticising airport safety with one of them mentioning that a similar incident occurred four years ago but fortunately he pulled his foot out of the jammed croc sandal he was wearing which was then devoured by the machine, Sanook.com said.

On Thursday afternoon, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha expressed deep concern and ordered an urgent report on a shocking incident at Don Mueang Airport. It occurred at 8.27 am and saw the left leg of a 57-year-old Terminal Two passenger travelling to Nakhon Si Thammarat province engorged by a faulty walkway escalator, causing it to be severed at the knee and prompting an emergency response at Thailand’s second busiest airport.
