Most people are born into it, shaped by it, and may later accept, reject or change parts of it. Israel’s claim is not based on DNA. It is based on historical narratives, wars, terrorism, continuous Jewish ties to the land, political events and decisions, and later partial international recognition, mainly from the West in the beginning. Over thousands of years, shared history can become part of a people’s identity, but that does not automatically settle modern disputes over land.
