Two cases now involving the sale of pornographic items which contravenes strict laws relating to such items.

The first case comes from the Nataporn Book Shop in South Pattaya, which appears to be a normal book shop, however at the rear of the shop, an illegal pornographic magazine shop was being operated. Details were given to Police Major Chayagrit, from the Undercover Unit at Pattaya Police Station who sent one of his officers to the shop to confirm the presence of these illegal items.

This was followed by a Police Raid where the owner of the shop, Khun Duen aged 74 was arrested and thousands of sex magazines were confiscated. At the Police Station, Khun Duen explained that she had told her Grandson to order these magazines from Bangkok after realizing there was a demand for these items. They had only just started selling the magazines when the Police raid took place. Khun Duen is now facing charges relating to the sale of pornographic items.

The second case was dealt with by Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutat from the Chonburi Provincial Police Special Operations Unit who conducted a raid of a shop located at the Central Pattaya section of Third Road over the weekend. The raid netted 100 Pornographic VCD’s and the owner of the shop, Khun Sumon aged 52, who attempted to escape when she was taken to Pattaya Police Station was arrested. A small chase ensued and she was quickly caught. Later that night she was duly charged with selling pornography and is expected to appear in court soon.

The second, and proberbly last, time I descended into Pattaya I was perusing a stall selling torches and suchlike close to the main mall on the front. I was stunned when the guy flipped back a peice of card to reveal a pile of dvds of young girls. What a disgrace?
