4 Injured In A Weekend Of Drunken Road Accidents

Featured Replies

Two weekend road accidents now, both of which involved drivers who are suspected of consuming excess amounts of alchohol.

The first case comes from the Sukumvit Road near the North Pattaya Intersection and occurred in the early hours of Sunday Morning. Police Lieutenant Colonel Anan from Pattaya Police station was assigned to the case which left four people injured and trapped inside their vehicle for a time. Rescue workers soon arrived and were confronted by an overturned Silver Toyota Vigo lying in the central reservation. The vehicle contained four people, the driver, Khun Wirort aged 45 and three passengers, two of which were seriously injured, Khun Montien aged 34 and Khun Arnon aged 32. The driver of the truck who works as a Technician for the Ocean Marina Complex in Na-Jomtien explained that the group was returning from a party somewhere in Pattaya and he attempted to initiate a u-turn maneuver but only noticed the u-turn at the last minute. He broke heavily and the truck over-turned because of what he claims to be slippery road conditions caused by a previous rainstorm. Police are conducting further investigations into the driver who may face charges.

The second case comes from the Sukumvit Road in South Pattaya and features an accident which occurred further along the Road moments earlier. The initial crash occurred when the driver of a truck collided with a stationary pick-up driven by Khun Samaporn aged 36 who had stopped to purchase some food. She was not inside the vehicle when the truck driven by Khun Praingnam aged 61 slammed into the pick-up and proceeded to drive off. Khun Samaporn gave chase and followed the truck until it came to a halt in South Pattaya. Amazingly the driver then passed out along with a passenger in the truck. Both were suspected of consuming excessive amounts of alcohol which was confirmed by Police who soon arrived to arrest the driver who is now facing reckless driving charges and charges relating to his failure to stop at an accident.
