Deputy House speaker says 3 sittings enough to consider Pita’s PM candidacy

The Thai parliament will sit on July 13th to select the next prime minister and will sit again on July 19th and 20th if it cannot make the selection, Deputy House Speaker, Pichet Chuamuangphan, told the media on Thursday.

Although there is no limit on the number of parliament sittings for the selection of the prime minister, he said that three should be enough to consider the prime ministerial candidacy of Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat.

He admitted that it is not easy or convenient for all members of the House and Senate to attend joint sittings on frequent basis.

He's going to get screwed. The veteran pols are snickering behind his back.

One would have been more than enough it's clear that the people have spoken, the dinosaurs really ought to take note otherwise I foresee an asteroid on the horizon...

If it is fair play there is only 1 sitting, but the senators are biggest problem. Mr Prayuth have said that the PM should come from the biggest party so if he keeps his word Pita will get his votes too, but ....... in Thailand nothing is what it looks like

Quite remarkable that the time-line to form the government is moving way ahead of the schedule set by K Wissanu Krea-ngam deputy PM of the caretaker government. The date given by him was August 3 for voting of PM by both houses.  This was brushed off with a much earlier date. There seem an air of confidence by the MFP+PTP coalition that they will get this done within 3 sittings. Perhaps the Parliament opening speech by the Majesty to both houses to work for the public gave them that confidence. We will soon see which senators will not heed that message in this open ballot voting.

In other words, make a decision and lets get on with it.

Stop this eternal dragging things out.

Will it be an elephant parade or a shipping container barricade as the convoluted horn gets blown in this never ending lunacy ????

Absolutely, and the senators get paid just over 113k a month to do it.
