It's weird.  I see a "right-wing" nut job and a "left-wing" nut job, both wrong about much of what they say and only really looking to score points for "their tribe".

I don't think either of them has any sort of moral high-ground.

I like the use of the word "tribe",,,right on point!!!

Its interesting to read the comments about 'woke'.

Granted the extreme of the continuum or awareness has and always has been strange and full of obvious mal-adaptions and neuroses.

The notion of the dictionary meaning of the word woke is however nothing but the seeking of awareness and the promulgation of open mindedness ...

... "What is the meaning of woke in Oxford dictionary?

/wəʊk/ (informal, often disapproving) aware of social and political issues, especially racism This word is often used in a disapproving way by people who think that some other people are too easily upset about these issues, or talk too much about them in a way that does not change anything.

"wake

VERB.

1 if Gran wakes she'll want a glass of water | at 4.30 a.m. Mark woke up: awake, awaken, waken (up), rouse, stir, come to, come around; get up, get out of bed, bestir oneself, get going, come alive, show signs of life; literary arise. ANTONYMS  sleep; fall asleep2 she opened the door before waking her husband | he woke her up with a cup of tea: waken, rouse, arouse, bring to, bring around; British informal knock up.3 a clip round the ear might wake him up a bit: stir up, activate, stimulate, spur, prod, galvanise, enliven, give a lift/boost to, ginger up, buoy up, refresh, invigorate, revitalise, inspire; informal perk up, pep up. 4 they finally woke up to what we have been saying: realise, become aware of, become conscious of, become mindful of, become heedful of, become alert to.5 the name woke a forgotten and embarrassing memory: evoke, call up, conjure up, rouse, stir, revive, awaken, refresh, renew, resuscitate, revivify, rekindle, reignite, rejuvenate, stimulate."

(Oxford Dictionary, 2023.).

The word 'woke' has like so much of the English language been hijacked by extremist, either that of the extreme left chaotic-anarchist or the far right racial-supremacists who are just as equally anti-social, anti-awareness, anti-critical thinking, bigoted and authoritarian.

If you read the words in bold then to be anti-woke indicates you are one of those who a barrier to cohesive society not the other who identifies with social and political ideologies and processes aligned with free speech, free thinking, tolerance, expansive evolutionary developing thinking, and action.

What then makes a person anti-woke? The simple answer to this question is fear. Fear in many forms.

Most of this fear is taught in the familial home (usually multi-generationally welded into the family system) and reinforced in some circles of societies outside of the family outward and as we see across the globe.

Fear of those who are different usually along racial lines is one of the base-lines of such bigotry.

Fear of 'the other' has been habitually and neurotically expressed in every anti-woke trope I have ever read. Fear and its enablers justifiers; hate & rage are always palpable in such tropes.

Moderate considered woke is one of the fuels which moves humanity forward and towards its highest ideals and achievements e.g the development of democracy in the Greek state of Polis (Athens) around the 6th century B.C.  was a classic example of woke thinking.

The paranoid ideologies that drag queens and gay people will consume humanity and make us all gay is, from histories teaching, the same paranoid fabled narrative that is worthy of compassion and engagement with those who suffer such bigoted, underdeveloped thinking and familial created emotional abuse promoted paranoia.

'Real men' don't fear gay people, or different thinking, quite the opposite.

Extreme Islam and Christianity have anti-woke movements non less than political groups who court and curry favour with these religions because they recognise them as  already having within them masses of bigoted and fearful patrons e.g. Sharia and the evangelical Pentecostal faiths to name but two who espouse, and energetically so, anti-woke ideologies/theologies.

Indeed there are forms of Buddhism that hold such ideologies and practices. Most would identify Buddhism as being perhaps one of the most tolerant of spiritual paths but in some forms it is as violently anti-woke. They too see 'the other' as less-than, threatening.

So threatening in fact e.g. Some of the Buddhist sects of Myanmar view Muslim Rohingya as less than insects on the reincarnation wheel and therefore justifiable of 'extermination'.

No.  It's quite mainstream.  Pretty average people complain about movies being garbage because of following some sort of "woke agenda".  Equally when companies "go woke" in some sort of marketing campaign, like Gillette or Bud Light, average people notice and say "What is this woke garbage?"

Don't fall for left-wing activists who want to prevent the use of the word because they support what it criticises.
