snoop1130
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has set aside a space next to the parliament building to accommodate supporters of Move Forward party leader Pita Limjaroenrat, who are expected to show up in droves to offer moral support when the House and the Senate meet on Thursday to select Thailand’s next prime minister. The space, where the BMA’s Kiak Kai administrative centre is located, is capable of accommodating up to 10,000 people. It will be equipped with tents and mobile toilets, provided by the city’s administration. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said today (Monday) that city officials are drafting an edict to open the space to be used for public expression, in line with the democratic system. #news Full Story: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/bma-prepares-for-pitas-judgement-day-on-thursday/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2023-07-10 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. anchadian
All at the last minute: The @EctThailand has NOT YET decided whether to call the Constitutional Court, seeking a ruling against@Pita_MFP accusing him of deliberately concealing his shares in an alleged media company and thus running for office despite not eligible to do so. The EC will meet again tmr. https://twitter.com/SaksithCNA/status/1678341162908942336 (1/2) A source from the junta-appointed Senate's committee on political development said on Monday no more than ten senators will support Move Forward Party PM candidate Pita Limjaroenrat as PM on Thursday during the bicameral vote. (2/2) The source added some senators will oppose the re-voting for Pita on July 19 if he failed the first vote and will cite Parliament regulation number 41 which stated that a re-vote should be done only when there's a reason to believe the outcome would be different. https://twitter.com/KhaosodEnglish/status/1678329510561972224 1 2

Popular Post herfiehandbag
Naive of me I know, but surely wasn't "judgement day" a couple of months ago (!) when the people voted on the matter. MFP won more seats and more votes than any other party. That was known within hours. A coalition was put in place within days. Here we are, two months down the line. The defeated government is still in place, still shows no sign of relinquishing power, and we are still waiting for the Electoral Commission to proceed with or dismiss the ridiculous attempts to rule Pita ineligible. It is absolutely clear that the regime has no intention of honouring the election votes. They have the Senate block. They have the EC and court referrals. They will manufacture a state of emergency pending fresh elections "in due course". They are staying put.

EC certified the elections rather fast. that the parliament met very fast, and now we are in the building of a coalition. So there is no delay. If Pita can build a coalition he can be PM in 2 days. If he can't it may need 2 more weeks till PTP can build a government

The delay is due to determined attempts to break it. PTP have, to their credit, largely stood by it. If they had said after the first couple of days"actually we will go into coalition with XYZ, leaving MFP outside, then all would have been sorted within a week, with the unelected Senate's blessing., MFP would by now have been emasculated just as Future Forward was, leaving vast chunks of the electorate without a voice. And I will hazard a guess that you would have acclaimed it as a great victory for democracy!

So it's no surprise the party that won the most seats cannot form a government. However, as far as I know, Austria doesn't have 250 senators, all personally appointed by the previous PM / government, able to vote in the selection of the following PM. If MFP get dissolved the only right thing to do would be to have new elections. Just continue and ignoring that is not democratic....On the other hand democracy wouldn't be the most important thing for me. Stability is. It was once. But I often said that the Senator appointment is a bad thing. But still they can't get an PM appointed that is undemocratic/has not the majority of MPs behind him. The primary difference between the two is that a letter of intent is not binding, whereas a memorandum of understanding is considered binding and carries weight in a court of law. there was a VOTE by the coalition to accept this you need to go back to school Edited July 11, 2023 by MikeandDow
