It is now likely that Mr Srettha Thavisin (left) will be proposed by a new coalition involving the Bhumjaithai Party and Palang Pracharat Party together with Pheu Thai when parliament next meets to elect the 30th Thai Prime Minister on Thursday, July 27th. On Wednesday, Ms Paetongtarn Shinawatra (right) spoke of the need to break the political impasse because of the damage being done to the Thai economy as the party got ready to cut the Move Forward Party adrift, a move which will lose it political capital with the public.

The path now being pursued by the Pheu Thai Party will see it lose heavily in terms of political capital as it will be reneging on clear commitments made during the General Election not to do business with parties linked with the 2014 military coup and the existing government of General Prayut Chan ocha. It is also reversing its commitment to upholding the ‘democratic will’ as expressed in the May 14th General Election which was for a Move Forward Party-led government of democratic reform.

The Move Forward Party is on the verge of being given a sideways shift by its coalition partner, Pheu Thai, as the country grapples with a political crisis caused by opposition to the Move Forward Party from the unelected Senate and heightened tensions over the radical party’s insistence on pursuing its controversial policy to amend Article 112 of the Criminal Code on lèse-majesté. It is being predicted that a new government led by Pheu Thai with Srettha Thavisin as Prime Minister may be installed on Thursday next July 27th although it will come at a hefty political price as it will see Pheu Thai abandoning key pre-election commitments and the democratic principle spoken about at length in the weeks after the May 14th General Election. 

 

The Pheu Thai Party, on Thursday morning, after Wednesday’s traumatic events which saw prime ministerial frontrunner Mr Pita Limjaroenrat suspended from Parliament, is now openly suggesting that a new coalition partnership will be formed in the coming week without the Move Forward Party.

The owner of PT is desperate to come home.

It seems the watch collector and junta supporter with his connections is necessary to ensure a smooth arrival. 

The Shinawatra family are probably banking the return of Thaksin will generate such excitement amongst the faithful that broken electoral promises will be overlooked.

Maybe, but it will sicken the more educated PT supporters

But with the recent developments about the rejection of the voting last week about the secon chance of Pita, I am wondering if Pheu Thai now has to further to form a Government. Pita and his coalition is stil in the race....

As we could read yesterday it is very needed to amend section 112 as a teenager is convicted for 1 year in prison for an action of 3 years ago when the kid was 16... Shameful that kids are being convicted for section 112. That is never the intention of the law... Pheu Thai will not accept parties that want to amend section 112, but why are they in this coalition than with Move Forward??.. It seems already an untrustful partner

The smiling Ms Shinawatra might need to change her red jacket for a yellow one now, I can see this situation turning ugly before long. ☹️

Don't be blaming the girls on this Hoss. The girls are taken out of school at about 12 by  the  family in order to work on the farm. And the babies:  What is she supposed to do ? 

Next domino back to the same OLD thing. The Senator firewall installed by the Junta planted the firewall seed years ago. Next step, extend the appointments of the Senators. New Constitution?

Should they choose this move it will be the end Of Pheu Thai and most likely lead to a landslide victory for Move Forward in the next election. You can dam the flow but eventually it laps over the top. The tide in Thailand is turning and the Ruling elites need to accept change is coming

Impossible to extend the senators' appointments. Only Pravin and Prayuth's parties would approve. 

A new constitution can certainly be written requiring the election of senators.

 

If the 250 non voted in senators are able to vote as block to vote someone in, then it is clear they are just waiting for someone beneficial to them, not what the public voted for. Public Democracy is currently  dead in Thailand

Plus,... they have the ultimate card ,up the sleeve (to be used sparingly)

The military coup.

Btw..the new 'peogressive' elites will become as corrupt and scheming ,in due course.

It takes girl + boy to make a babies and trust me the girls are more eager to become a mom. They don't work..  they lay around all day on their phones. 

Talk about stabbing Pita, and Thailand, in the back. This is a new low even for Thai politicians.

Ticket from Dubai already bought. All happy. No bigger demonstrations like in the past.

In the event of dissolution, MF MPs will have 60 days to move to a new party, just as FF MPs moved to MF when FF were dissolved.

So we will certainly not join.....is actually..yes we will join with the "small boats".
