He is showing his lack of political experience, he will talk himself into obscurity.

No, millions and millions of people want that as well. That's why they voted for him. More than voted for any other candidate.   Respect, for what? The comic opera, bad tempered, avaricious

  • Nah. It's this platform of change and booting out the dinosaurs that struck such a massive chord with the population and electorate. He has to stick to his guns now, and good luck to him. He's going t

It is exactly why he was voted "Politician of the year" a day or so ago:

And that was a poll taken in the heartland of PTP supporters.

The genie is well and truly out of the bottle.

Do you really not see that?

Respectful of medieval laws, appointed senators and army cronies, I think not that's why MFP won the most seats, people are sick of the old order. Been to the cinema recently?

Actually, the Thai court's ruling implied that the accusation was true.

They stated in their opinion that the offense was not committed on Thai soil, so he was free to continue in his 'esteemed' position. If he had been convicted in Thailand, then he would have been kicked out (or another excuse would have been given....)

I reckon that would be far more likely!

Way to make his case for him!

I find myself bemused by all the negative comments regarding Pita posted by some of the westerners on this forum, on the many threads regarding him and the election.  He should have done this.  He should not have done that.   He's too weak.  He comes on too strong.  He says too much.  He should compromise more.  He shouldn't be compromising at all.   He's too bull-headed.  No, he gives up too easily.  Etc., etc.

Here's what happened today.  My Thai partner learned that Pita was going to be in Jomtien this afternoon.  Even though the weather was rainy and nasty, he got together with some of his Thai friends on the Darkside and together they drove into town to go to the Pita rally, meeting other friends there--all planned in advance when they heard Pita was coming.  From the videos he took on his phone, it looked like a big, enthusiastic crowd, especially considering the bad weather.

The remarkable thing is this is one of the few times in over 25 years of being with my partner that he has took it upon himself to actually go listen to a politician, here or in the US.  He certainly cares about politics, about what is happening in Thailand, about the current administration, and so on.  He watches the Thai news closely and follows everything.   But, as much as he cares, few politicians, except for perhaps Thanathorn, have moved the needle with him.

Pita definitely moves the needle for my Thai partner, and I think for a multitude of other Thais, as well.  We, as westerners, can criticize this, criticize that, about him but I think he is making a much bigger impact with Thais than we may think.  No matter what happens this cycle, he and the FF party are inspiring Thais, like my partner, to finally get up and participate.

The middle class never took to PT because they knew it was controlled by Thaksin who really only cared about himself.

There was no party genuinely interested in reform in Thailand until Future Forward came along.

The elite struck them down but Move Forward naturally emerged from the ashes .

The authorities may ban MF but a successor will surely emerge, stronger with a groundswell of support.

I agree.  I think for many Thais, like my partner, there is finally hope.

What does he mean by busting monopolies? When I hear this I fear he will sell out state owned enterprise? But I know very little about Thai politics. What monopolies does he refer to, state or privately owned?

I speak to others who say they will never vote again,  They have given up.

Agree. (Join hands with Zelensky)

Thailand is conservative. I came here because I like this country the way it is. Let's hope some liberal with vague plans of "changing old power structures" will fail and Thailand will stay this way and not take a great step (towards the abyss or anywhere else).

I read your POV (and others similar) as a bizarre and incorrect PROJECTION of western right wing politics (for example Trumpists that love Putin because of his support of "traditional" values) on Thailand. That's just totally wrong and pathetic.

But I guess for many expats it's to their benefit to have a huge exploited underclass in Thailand. Keeps the labor cheap so we can enjoy and afford all kinds of "services" that we can't back home. Not exactly a morally defensible position, is it?

OK. Go make your commie revolution here. You have the farmers and the women. Europe was broken with muslims and women.

And for Americans who don't know Europe's disaster, you know nothing what MFP would turn Thailand into.

You're projecting again. All that does is tell us what's in your brain. It tells us nothing about Thailand.

It does appear any meaningful change will require a full on revolution, by the people. Toss the goons out of power, and perhaps out of the county, into exile. But, I just don't see that happening yet.

One would think after the covid failures, the highly selective business shutdowns, and the Prayuth Economic Decimation, the people would be fed up. I guess they have a much higher tolerance for pain, suffering and deprivation than I thought.

The establishment going all out to crush MF .

Not sure, you need the same Kool-Aid that luckyblock token drinks.

I'm more interested in his pitch that Pita is a "Manchurian Candidate"? Much better than some reality-challenged buffoon here suggesting Pita was a "Ivy League Trojan Horse".

Yes. MFP must be eliminated entirely. Party banned. Principals banned lifetime. A few leaders will be charged with 112/116, and/or forced/allowed to leave the country. It will be ugly.

Pita does inspire people. He can't easily be replaced in that. So for him to be eliminated is a real loss of hope for Thai democracy. He kind of reminds me of Bobby Kennedy (not his son!).

Thanathorn did too. I'm sure MF has many willing to take his place. When people believe in what they're saying, they naturally sound more inspirational than tired old faces repeating old cliches about nationalism.
