A DESPERATE PHEU THAI LEADER Chonlanan Srikaew said today (July 24) the Bhumjaithai could possibly be given a pivotal role of setting up a majority government now that the Pheu Thai may have failed to find enough support for a partisan candidate for prime minister.

Cabinet To Approve Extra Holiday Leading To 6-Day Break

THE Cabinet Secretariat will propose to the Cabinet meeting today (July 25)  that Monday July 31 be declared a special holiday leading to a six-day break from July 28 to August 2 in order to stimulate the tourism and service sectors, TV Channel 7 said this morning.

Thai state revenues total ฿1.95 trillion in the first 9 months of this fiscal year

The Finance Ministry has collected about 1.95 trillion baht in total revenues during the first nine months of the 2023 fiscal year, beginning last October, which is 136 billion baht more than the target, according to Pornchai Thiraveja, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office and spokesman for the Finance Ministry.

George Orwell inspired Russian restaurant in Bangkok

George Orwell, the author of the dystopian “1984”, is known to have frequented London pubs, and half of the gin mills in the city are said to have had him as a customer at one point or another. Orwell was dissatisfied with most of the pubs in his city. He wrote an essay for the Evening Standard in 1946, which he called “The Moon Under Water”, in which he described the rules that his ideal drinking establishment would follow. A Russian chef, Alesha Voronin, chose to name his restaurant in the heart of Bangkok after it.
