McCarthy accuses DOJ of using Trump indictment to ‘distract’ from Biden probes

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) accused the Department of Justice (DOJ) of using the latest indictment against former President Trump — which stems from his efforts to remain in power following the 2020 election — to “distract” from recent information GOP-led committees have gathered about President Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, McCarthy listed several points Republicans have been hammering in their investigations into the Biden family’s business dealings.

“And just yesterday a new poll showed President Trump is without a doubt Biden’s leading political opponent,” McCarthy continued. “Everyone in America could see what was going to come next: DOJ’s attempt to distract from the news and attack the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, President Trump.”

While pointing the finger at the DOJ and Biden, McCarthy did not engage with any specific allegations in the Trump indictment, a tactic that has become typical for the Speaker in recent weeks when speaking to the press about charges against Trump.

Which indictment?

There have been so many.

That said, hard to figure why McCarthy is whining about distractions? He should take the whip to Comer and Jordan to get them to continue their "investigation", and begin an Impeachment hearing. More doing, less whining.

Smart guy that Kevin.

How smart do you have to be to make an accusation that there's no hard evidence for? Alleging motive without evidence is just a cheap shot with no dispositive value.

Assuming the accusation were true, what type of evidence would you expect there to be? Video recordings of people discussing it? Official emails of people proposing it? Interviews on CNN where a representative of DOJ confirmed the accusations to be 100% accurate?

Well, for example, the Inspector General of the Justice Dept and John Durham conducted separate investigations to determine if there was bad faith behind the Trump Russian investigation. Presumably these 2 gentlemen wouldn't have engaged in such an investigation if they believed that there couldn't be any evidence to prove the allegation. What evidence has McCarthy offered to back up his allegation?

What kind of evidence?  I assume that to file charges there would have to be some kind of proof that Joe Biden did something of benefit for Hunter Biden's client and received something of value in exchange.  What has Joe Biden done of benefit for Burisma?
