Stickers Placed on Buses and Taxis to Raise Public Cybercrime Awareness

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Royal Thai Police is working with the Ministry of Transport to promote cybercrime awareness amongst users of public transportation.

 

Royal Thai Police Commissioner Damrongsak Kittipraphat and Department of Land Transport Director-General Chirute Visalachitra have been placing stickers on buses and taxis to warn people of cybercrimes frequently perpetrated on public transport vehicles.

 

Authorities reported that close to 90,000 buses and taxis nationwide serve almost 2 million passengers daily. Placing the stickers on these vehicles is expected to raise public awareness about cybercrime threats to passengers and prevent them from falling victim.

 

The Royal Thai Police has been making use of multiple channels to raise cybercrime awareness among the general public, with online reports about such crimes now on a downward trend.

 

The police are also encouraging members of the public to answer a 40-question “cyber vaccine” questionnaire that would increase their awareness of tricks used online by criminals. Between 80,000 and 90,000 people have already participated in completing the questionnaire, seeking to win one of 60 iPhone 14 devices being offered to participants. Many people also completed the questionnaire without expressing any intention of wanting to be eligible for the prize.

 

The Royal Thai Police will present the first batch of the iPhones to the lucky questionnaire takers on August 8.

And taxis, where most people are concerned about the crime of being overcharged!

When the doors of the pictured bus are opened, the stickers will be virtually impossible to read.  Imagine all the frustrated passengers waiting to get on a bus as the first passengers stop by the opened doors to read those miniscule stickers!!
