Press Conference Announces Gang Arrest

Late on Tuesday afternoon a press conference was called at the front of the police station in Soi 9 to announce the arrest of five young Thai males who were part of two separate gangs involved in motorbike theft and bag snatching.

The conference was led by Major-General Somdaert, the commander of Police Region 2, who stated one of the five, a 17-year-old, was also wanted for murder. The remainder, aged between 15 and 21, were only arrested on charges of theft.

Police paraded a pickup, motor bikes, gold necklaces, Buddha images, cash and other valuables as part of the haul they impounded after conducting a well-timed operation to catch the two gangs.

It will now be up to the courts to decide the fate of the five arrestees.
