FARANG HUSBAND RIPS OFF THAI MAMASAN FOR 36 MILLION BAHT

A Thai woman, Angela Miller, 50, jailed for 42-months in the UK for running two brothels in Northampton, UK, maintains her Brit ex-husband ripped her off to the tune of £ ½ million (36,408,690 Baht). The couple had also co-masterminded a sex-trafficking ring, smuggling Thai female sex-workers into her brothels, which masqueraded as massage parlours, over several years. The 18 Thai sex-workers on her books individually earned slightly more than they would have done in Pattaya: 60 quid (4,370 Baht) for a short time as opposed to 500 Baht!

The case gained notoriety when British Labour MP, Joe Ashton, was caught in one of the brothels’ saunas, in flagrante delicto, with a 21-year-old Thai lady, during a police raid in 1998. “Madam Angela” was subsequently charged with running a house of ill-repute and sex-trafficking, but she jumped bail and was only caught in Pattaya, after 6 years on the run, from where she was extradited back to the UK to face charges and was imprisoned.

“Madam Angela” apparently made a killing from her sex business, from which she was able to buy two properties and a flat complex and nightclub in Pattaya. This in addition to three shops and two plots of land in Kanchanaburi.

However, when asked to declare her assets by the British court in order to confiscate it, the prosecuting lawyer said disbelievingly that “Madam Angela” had maintained that she was effectively destitute, with only £300 (21,845 Baht) to her name. She accused her erstwhile husband, Ron Miller, of having liquidated her assets and absconding with the proceeds, leaving her penniless. The court estimated that her nice little earner had netted her a cool £470,000 (34,224,170 Baht) in a business that was worth approximately £1 million (72,817383 Baht). However, it has been suggested that the whole affair is a total scam worked by “Madam Angela” and her supposedly ex-sami, Ron, and, in fact, the whole of the ill-gotten gains has been conveniently stashed, or given to friends for safekeeping until after her release. The judge declared that if indeed her husband had truly stolen the money “it is all rather sad”. The court has asked her to co-operate with the dangled carrot of going slightly more easy on her.
