Fulton County DA asks judge to expedite cases of all 19 defendants in Georgia

Fulton County, Ga., District Attorney Fani Willis asked a Georgia judge Tuesday to expedite the cases of all 19 defendants charged in a sweeping racketeering case over interference in the state’s 2020 election.

After defendant Kenneth Chesebro demanded a speedy trial in the case, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee set his trial date for Oct. 23, four months sooner than the date Willis originally proposed.

In that ruling, McAfee said the decision to move forward with an October trial date pertains only to Chesebro “at this time.” Willis pushed back against that decision in a Tuesday court filing.

“The State of Georgia respectfully requests that the Court set aside its Case Specific Scheduling Order entered on August 24, 2023, to the extent that the Order states, ‘[a]t this time, these deadlines do not apply to any co-defendant,'” Willis wrote in the filing.

Georgia’s speedy trial rules say the cases must be tried before the end of two court terms following their arraignments. All the defendants’ arraignments, where they will formally hear the charges they face and enter a plea, are set for Sept. 6.

Won't matter, they'll spin it anyway. Judges are in Biden'pockets, DA is a democrat therefore a commie, jury wasn't fair, etc.

Those judges are in Biden's pocket but Cannon isn't. Odd that no judge has ever laid a complaint hat they were being interfered with by the president. Some might think that debunked a conspiracy theory. Same old, same old. Conspiracy theory is widely publicised over a long period of time and is characterised by thousands of people who need to shut up to make it work.

They will but if we are allowed to watch the proceedings it will change minds and I dare say some will see how they have been bamboozled by right wing news

Trump has clearly stated that he has "irrefutable" evidence that will completely "exonerate" him from all the Ga charges so what's the problem.  Start the trial, trump shares his massive trove of secret evidence, the first evidence to be produced in almost 3 years in spite of numerous recounts and investigations proving "irrefutable" that he really did win Ga.

 

So once trump lays all this evidence on the table for the world to see there is no doubt all charges will be dropped and trump can crow about how it was all a big witch hunt and breeze his way right back to the white house.

 

Gee one would wonder why trump and his lawyers would not be demanding a trial ASAP so he can be exonerated?]

 

Could it perhaps be remotely possible that trump told a porkie and has no evidence other than some space lasers magically rigged the election or all those republican trumpers who investigated and recounted over and over were all along secret agents of Biden?
