Trump inflated net worth by $2.2 billion, NY attorney general alleges

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) alleged former President Trump inflated his net worth by as much as $2.2 billion, according to court documents filed Wednesday.

The allegation came as part of James’s lawsuit against Trump, the Trump Organization and two of the former president’s children alleging more than a decade of fraud.

Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump both currently serve as executive vice presidents at the Trump Organization, playing prominent roles in their father’s business arm. Ivanka Trump was previously included in the lawsuit, but later dismissed from it by a state appeals judge.

James included the new figure in a court filing urging a judge to partially rule against Trump ahead of the scheduled Oct. 2 trial.

She alleged that Trump inflated his net worth by hundreds of millions of dollars between 2011 and 2021. In 2014, James accused Trump of exaggerating his net worth by as much as $2.225 billion.

“While this is just the tip of a much larger iceberg of deception Plaintiff is prepared to expose at trial — which would result in carving off billions more from Mr. Trump’s net worth — it is more than sufficient to permit this Court to rule as a matter of law that each [statement of financial conditions] from 2011 to 2021 was false or misleading,” James wrote.

You don't get it, nothing to do with his ego, the inflation of his wealth was fraudulent, to get more loans for real estate deals.

Yes yes yes. But they can easily explain why they were paid. Something NOT ONE SINGLE biden bro is able to do in regard to the much denied and censored millions  from China, Russia and Ukraine. Countries we  are having major issues with - funnily enough.

You can't equate bluster with treason.

If you even bothered to read the article you would discover that inflating his wealth had nothing to do with his over inflated ego but :-
"to pay lower taxes and improve its insurance coverage. James is seeking $250 million in financial penalties".
But no, rather than educate yourself, you throw out a fatuous opinion and follow that up with  unsupported claims about someone else in an effort, once again, to justify your support for Trump.
No wonder Trump can grift his supporters so easily.

"Most folk" would be wrong, just like most folks think declaring bankruptcy to avoid paying debts is "good business".
It's illegal, and if caught there are penalties, irrespective of who commits the fraud.
The adage, "Oh everyone cheats on their taxes, so its ok", might be accepted but, if you are caught, expect no mercy.

Where is the detail? Who exactly did he 'inflate' his net worth to? What was the purpose of the inflation of net worth? Unless he was inflating his net worth to investors or to get credit, he can tell as many lies about it as he likes. Net worth (the difference between your assets and liabilities is not a reportable number ie you don't file a net worth statement every year, like a tax filing.

Evidence clarence...name the crime/s biden committed and show the  evidence...not a bunch of bs right wing wish list conspiracy theories....3 years into investigation and the special counsel is free to call a grand jury at anytime and present the EVIDENCE to a grand jury and IF they believe said EVIDENCE they will vote to indict....it's really pretty simple even for clarence thomas to grasp...

I guess you have yet to notice that there is a massive pile of evidence that has been presented to grand juries of trump crimes in 4 different locales by 4 different grand juries....some are dem some are repub but all have one thing in common...they looked at the evidence and said yes there is a probable cause that a crime or crimes was committed....and notice also clarence that most all of those who are providing the evidence and testimony are die hard life long republican trumpers...

Tired of trying to explain the obvious to trumpers....got real evidence present to grand jury...got no real evidence no indictment.

During his first year in office, prosecutors allege, Trump overstated his personal wealth by over $1.1 billion and then overstated his financial condition by $1.9 billion in 2018.

Trump, and at times trustees of his revocable trust, repeatedly provided those statements to financial institutions to secure and maintain more favorable loans and insurance, “reaping hundreds of millions of dollars in ill-gotten savings and profits,” prosecutors wrote.

If only you had proof of your allegations.

Why is it that there is tons of proof against Trump, but zero against Biden?

Why is it that none of this alleged Buden corruption was uncovered by the Trump DOJ?

Trump allegedly inflated his net worth to banks to secure loans, and deflated his income when paying taxes.

You might consider that to be smart business.

I'm sensing a lot of jealousy here regarding Trump. He brought the attention to himself so I don't care what happens to him. I disliked him before he became POTUS. I'd wager the majority of wealthy folks in the US who deal in real estate does the same as trump.

But, because it's Trump people are tripping over themselves condemning him.

You said yourself you're not American so you really shouldn't comment on business in the US.
