It looks like you want a justice system in which no amount of evidence is sufficient to charge Trump or convict his seditionist supporters but "Comer says" innuendo is enough to convict President Biden.

Rehl's attorney Norm Pattis says he client took cues from the "highest elected official in the land," i.e. Trump, who told them the election was stolen:

"I wonder why that man hasn't been charged with seditious conspiracy and why he isn't answering to that charge."

Kind of bizarre how only AFTER they're convicted of attempted insurrection (seditious conspiracy) and other crimes related to the Jan. 6 plotted insurrection, do some of these types come around to the sad admissions.... "the President (Trump) told me to do it... told me the election was stolen..... told me to fight for the country," etc etc....

If any of them had a thimble full of brains between them, they never would have been listening to or believing Trump, about anything, in the first place, given his long and well-publicized history as an inveterate liar, which he continues even now with his ongoing "the election was stolen, the election was rigged" rants....

Hopefully some long stretches in prison will give the worst of the attempted insurrectionists a chance to consider just how and why they landed there, and hopefully gain the wisdom of not trying to go down the same road of dishonor again in the future.

The OP here seems to have been posted BEFORE the latest sentencings from the Jan. 6 attempted insurrection, though it mentioned these two criminals had sentences upcoming (yesterday), which now have been handed down.  Some folks never learn...

A Proud Boy pleaded for leniency from a judge, then yelled 'Trump won' on his way out

Updated September 1, 20234:58 PM ET

A self-described "sergeant of arms" for the Proud Boys and a member of the far-right extremist group were sentenced to a combined 28 years in federal prison for their roles in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

Ethan Nordean, a leader of the Seattle chapter of the Proud Boys, was sentenced to 18 years in prison and three years of supervised release. ...

Dominic Pezzola, a member of the Proud Boys that became one of the more recognizable faces of the riot at the Capitol, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and three years supervised release."

Trump must have been proud of Pezzola for his two-faced courtroom performance:

"Proud Boy Dominic Pezzola sobbed in a Washington, D.C., courtroom Friday as he asked a federal judge for leniency in his Jan. 6 sentence and vowed to stay out of politics in the future.

However, after receiving a 10-year prison sentence, Pezzola reportedly raised his fist and shouted, “Trump won,” as he left the courtroom, according to WUSA.

...

At Friday’s sentencing hearing, Pezzola apologized for his actions and told U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly that Jan. 6 was “the worst, most regrettable decision in my life,” according to NBC News."

Based on his courtroom outburst, presumably Pezzola means, "worst, most regrettable decision of my life" because he ended up getting arrested and prosecuted for his offenses -- not because he actually has any understanding that it was wrong and illegal to try to mount an insurrection against his own country.

I think he made a run of poor decisions in the lead up to Jan 6.

I guess this is what happens when "Liberals" own the justice system. The steel boot comes down hard on anyone with a differing opinion.

Diversity for everything. Except thought.

When his wife was on the witness stand she described him a a__hole who watched too much Fox.

Contrast this with the fellow who finally saw the light:  “I’m done peddling lies for other people who don’t care about me.”

DT tries to run all these distraction stunts, but his fan base understands what is happening with these cases and is not showing up when he puts out his calls.  At some point his Second Amendment patriots may be coming for him.

A much as I wish that were true, I don't think we will ever see a significant number of his base grasping the obvious and realizing they've been conned.

And even if they did would they admit it?  There are people who have disrupted their own lives, like not seeing their kids/grandkids on the holidays, insults spoken, etc.

There is a DC correspondent of liberal bent with a sister to the right of Ronald Reagan who had hardly spoken to her in the previous decades, one day told her that she knew that if she were on her deathbed if would be she (the columnist) that would be there holding her hand, not W. Bush or Karl Rove.  (I guess that reveals when she said it ).  Anyway, that is the level of deprogramming that will be required.

And Harlan, sell some of those damned guns!

The primary foot soldiers are paying the price for attempted insurrection.

Now how about the general, or "The Don" in mafia terms, who orchestrated it all, along with his various "made men" who played other leading roles?

Were it not for "The Don," none of this would have happened, and the hundreds of common folks already convicted and sentenced for resulting crimes thus far wouldn't have landed in the slammer.

The Leaders, those who created and promoted the whole thing, need to be held to account, not just the foot soldiers only.

'Reprehensible': Top FL newspaper blames Miami for allowing Enrique Tarrio 'to exist in plain sight'

Miami Herald points out that years before the insurrection, "Miami already knew about this guy. Tarrio was a stain on this community long before Jan, 6, when he was parading around with a bullhorn and a bunch of other black-shirted men, his extremism on full display during gatherings at places like Versailles."

Yes, Trump incited the assault on Congress — and encouraged the Proud Boys to 'stand back and stand by' in 2020 — but Tarrio was instrumental in carrying it out," the board emphasizes.
