If you've ever rented in the UK, the endless application forms filling for credit check and reference person (from work) is required, and yes they want to see your income that you can afford to rent the place, absolute invasion of privacy there

If you've never been a landlord in the UK , then you won't know how many tenants apply to live in a property without being able to afford it or have any idea how they intend to pay the rent money or how many tenants aren't truthful about their income or they don't realise the other costs like council tax and utilities and if they dont pay their rent money, it can take years to evict them and cost thousands

A months rents in advance, and a two month security deposit. Maybe a reference.

I am already agreed to the one months rent in advance, and the two month security deposit.

seems like you never rented before.  This is all normal.

Really I dont understand what your concern is, the owner doesn't have details to really check anything.

So what's the issue?
