July 13, 200718 yr Since about a year or so, my DSL connection I get through TOT keeps disconnecting if left idle for too long. Buying a new router and a new hub didn't change anything. After googling for software that for instance pings regularly to keep the connection alive, I downloaded and installed a program which is called stay connected. It helps a bit, but still if I don't use the connection for an hour or so, it cuts off. Does anybody have a suggestion for better software?
July 13, 200718 yr Mine does that too, I just keep the home page set to google news, it constantly refreshes the page. (and yes, my DSL router is set to always connected).
July 13, 200718 yr What about your router, normally you should set your router to keep the connection alive, linksys routers for instance have this option , keep alive, redail option, set it to a very low value. Or if your router is compatbile, upgrade to dd-wrt or openwrt, you get more options, and you could even setup a cron job to keep your connection alive, from the router.
