Is there any country in the world truly democratic, don't think so.

What is democracy

  • Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.
  • A political or social unit that has such a government.
  • The common people, considered as the primary source of political power.
  • Majority rule.
  • The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community.
  • Government by the people; a system of government in which the sovereign power of the state is vested in the people as a whole, and is exercised directly by them or their elected agents.
  • A state or civil body in which the people themselves exercise all legislative authority, and confer all executive and judicial powers, either by direct collective action or through elected representatives.
  • Political and social equality in general; a state of society in which no hereditary differences of rank or privilege are recognized: opposed to aristocracy.

Fascinating culture! ????:jap: Worship the rich, screw the rest!

Watch any Thai soap opera and the theme is repeated over and over.  The wealthy are all kind, beautiful, benevolent, and above reproach which is why all the rather uncouth, course, and unkempt servants and slaves worship the ground they walk on as they lay prostrate at their feet.

The challenge around the world is that the media does not investigate or follow up.

We all see the headlines but do we ever see any follow up

Used to be that reporters would get a good story and follow up.  Now unless it is Trump the media doesn't care

Here it is the sensation headlines but we never hear what happened after.  Look at all these so called sexual abuses.  We see the headlines but do we know what the outcomes were

Until the thais deconstruct this culture of impunity, Thailand's political development will remain trapped in the shadows of despair.

Yes this immunity harms Thai democracy, which as we see in the aftermath of the recent election is in a pitiful state anyway. Even the thing with Thaksin is a stain on the reputations of these who did the deal. Revolting really.

"Thai democracy", what's that?

Thaksin’s alleged crimes, trials and sentence was a farce manufactured by the same people who the article mentioned who overthrew democratic institutions without consequences
