Crossy Posted September 7, 2023 Author Posted September 7, 2023 For comparison, here's last year's thread. 1 1
Popular Post Crossy Posted September 30, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted September 30, 2023 Well, we've had some rain, and the river is rising, nowhere worrying yet but the village is "a bit damp". High tide at Pak Kret, still well in the green, we worry when it reaches the top of the concrete beam. 1 1 1
John Drake Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 I was hoping we wouldn't need this topic this year. Alas, it appears some flooding is on its way. 1
Popular Post Crossy Posted October 4, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted October 4, 2023 A little before high-tide at Pak-Kret. Creeping into the orange, not particularly worrying for us. Yet!! 2 1

Very difficult to predict really, it depends upon the weather (obviously) but also upon how the authorities decide to manage the levels in the dams. This time last year Pak Kret was just below the red sign on the level indicator and we had water in the house. We don't want that again this year!! 1

Will this push more downstream faster? https://thethaiger.com/news/national/ayutthaya-builds-dykes-to-protect-homes-amid-rising-chao-phraya-river-levels 1
Crossy Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 They do something similar each year, either portable or more permanent, it certainly keeps more water in the channel but just how much effect it really has downstream is debatable. 1
Crossy Posted October 8, 2023 Author Posted October 8, 2023 Definitely in the "not at all worried" window. For now, at least. 1
Popular Post Andrew Dwyer Posted October 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 8, 2023 Here in Ayutthaya I see the river level is high, my local Wat ( Phanan Choeng) is the indicator as it is where 2 rivers ( Chao Phraya and Prasak ) merge, not time to lift the flood barriers just yet This video from 30 sept 2022: IMG_9056.mov but any major release up north will see those plates lifted and a thick rubber laid across, how effective this is I’m not sure but is protection for the Wat only ! Those downstream can fend for themselves ….. sorry @Crossy 2 1
Popular Post Crossy Posted October 14, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted October 14, 2023 Local high water. Just at the top of the green at Pak Kret but nothing to worry about, yet. 2 1
Crossy Posted October 18, 2023 Author Posted October 18, 2023 Local high water today, pretty stable. 1 1
Crossy Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 Still pretty stable. Fingers crossed. 1
Crossy Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 Worryingly this is LOW tide at Pak Kret. 1 1
