Prime minister Thavisin expressed his wish to meet with US President Joe Biden during a trip to New York

New Industry Minister yesterday said the government would focus on promoting sustainable industries that are environmentally friendly.


her priority will be to encourage new industries such as Robotics,  intelligent electronics and automation, biotech, medical devices, and defence, to become a driving force behind Thailand’s new economy. 

 

The new digital economy minister has withdrawn his predecessor’s threat to close Facebook in retaliation for scam advertisements. 

 

The minister said locking Facebook would have widespread impact on millions of business operators who depend on the platform, and on some 45 million regular Facebook users. 


He plans to negotiate with Facebook executives in Singapore and Thailand to block scam advertisements. 

A man surrendered to police yesterday after a gunman shot and killed a highway police officer and injured another following an argument over a job transfer.


Eyewitnesses told police the shootings took place after a request by the man  Mr Praween for the transfer of his nephew, who is a policeman, was turned down. 


Mr Praween is believed to have ordered the shooting and turned himself in yesterday, the gunman remains at large.


The prime minister says the  government is stepping up efforts to address the impact of decreased rainfall and drought caused by the El Nino weather phenomenon that is affecting farmers across the country.


He said the government is concerned for people's well-being, especially agricultural market expansion, increasing farmers' income, boosting farming efficiency, reducing production costs, and promoting exports. 

 

A major fire broke out at the Pattaya Floating Market last night,  Fire-fighters were trying to put out the blaze which was still smoldering at 10 pm. The fire appears to have gutted  the entire market,  There were no reports of injury,  the cause is being investigated.. 

 

Thai Airways International is in talks with Boeing and Airbus for a plane order potentially involving more than 90 jets as it’s restructuring and gears up for take off.
