BANGKOK (NNT) - Efforts are underway to entice foreign experts in digital technology who are in demand in Thailand’s labor market.

A discussion took place regarding this between Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Prasert Jantararuangtong, Minister of Digital Economy and Society.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Department of Local Administration is considering extending the stay duration in Thailand for these foreign experts from three months to one year, as proposed by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. Should there be no security concerns, the initiative would likely receive swift approval.

The proposal details are being considered, with an emphasis on a speedy resolution.

Minister Prasert emphasized the severe shortage of skilled labor in digital technology. To accommodate foreigners wishing to live and work in Thailand, there is a need to coordinate with the Ministry of Interior to amend ministry regulations.

The drafting of policy changes is underway, with plans for future discussions once finalized.
