Your definition of 'research' limits the scope considerably, when it is confined to the 'edge of knowledge'.  And not even addressing how the 'genuine researchers' arrived at that edge.

"Do your own research" does not mean that you need to become a content-matter expert exploring the latest developments in your field of choice.

It simply means having an open critical mind, that keeps questioning (and searching) and does not blindly accept any information it is fed.  Stating that 'the science is settled' and that there is no need to question it, is the most unscientific approach possible.

Support for “doing your own research” is associated with COVID-19 misperceptions and scientific mistrust

Support for NOT “doing your own research” (and blindly accepting what the MSM feed you) is associated with COVID-19 misperceptions and misplaced scientific trust

Only it wasn't me it was an article that you misquoted into misinformation, typical behaviour of a cultist

No thanks, another purveyor of conspiracy theories:

Mark Crispin Miller (born 1949) is a professor of media studies at New York University.[1] He has promoted conspiracy theories about U.S. presidential elections, the September 11 attacks and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting as well as misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines.

Mark Crispin MILLER's daily overview of people that "died suddenly" all over the world, ONLY consists of re-posting the announcements as published in regional/national newspaper and obituaries.  He refrains from making any comments, and just lists them by country.

Are all the tens of thousands of obituaries addressing that plague of 'died suddenly and unexpectedly' mis-information?

LOL......I'm not gullible enough to head to a known conspiracy promoter, save that for your internet friends

Yep, I fixed the article quote for you as you blindly accepted it because it came from a 'trusted source'.

Afraid you're gonna get sucked in?  Or just refuse to look at anything that doesn't conform to your narrative?

Related question:  If you refuse to go there and see what he's saying, how is it possible to craft a legitimate argument against him?

"Afraid you're gonna get sucked in?"

It takes more than a 74 year old conspiracy theorist to suck me in, but feel free to indulge..lol

Enjoy the echo chamber.

That "word salad" is a very famous quote, well known to millions.  I didn't attribute it, because it's original source is oft debated.

But I guess it doesn't fit your narrative so you didn't even bother Googling it...  Contempt prior to investigation.

Why would I bother googling someone else quote?

I'd say "curiosity", and perhaps a desire to understand an opposing viewpoint, and where it may have come from.

I don't need to google up word salad quotes for your pleasure.

Or rather a desire not to sniff on the steaming pile of crapola that is served on a silver platter labeled "trusted" (though un-named) source" - "where it may have come from" (could be a stinking sewer!)

Last Friday Dr Peter Hotez received the 2023 Anthony Fauci Courage in Leadership Award.

Clownworld!

And some of the comments on that tweet are pure gold...

Amazing how much disrespect he's getting, thousands are dissing him.

One question I'd like to ask him, "Why are vaccine scientists so fat and obviously unhealthy"

Fauci and Hotez have become favorite targets of the far-right and now overlapping anti-vax groups because they stood up for protecting the health of Americans during the COVID pandemic, and helped push forward COVID vaccines that have saved many millions of lives.

The award cited above is from the Infectious Diseases Society of America, a community of 12,000+ physicians, scientists & public health experts who specialize in the field and were on the front lines of the medical fight against COVID...

They're the experts in the field, and they well knew who was deserving of the award for standing up against COVID misinformation peddlers and anti-science political bullying.

From the Associated Press:

‘Died suddenly’ posts twist tragedies to push vaccine lies

...

"a growing list of hundreds of children, teens, athletes and celebrities whose unexpected deaths and injuries have been incorrectly blamed on COVID-19 shots.

...
Rigorous study and real-world evidence from hundreds of millions of administered shots prove that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Deaths caused by vaccination are extremely rare and the risks associated with not getting vaccinated are far higher than the risks of vaccination. But that hasn’t stopped conspiracy theorists from lobbing a variety of untrue accusations at the vaccines."

Twisted Anti-Vaxxers Rush to Blame Matthew Perry’s Death on Covid Vaccine

For years, the actor was vocal about his health problems stemming from drug addiction, including 15 rehab stints, 14 surgeries, and a two-week coma

"Matthew Perry, who charmed audiences across the globe as the sarcastic roommate Chandler Bing on the popular sitcom Friends, was reportedly found dead on Oct. 28 at his Los Angeles home from an apparent drowning, law enforcement sources confirmed to Rolling Stone.
...
When the news of Perry’s passing broke Saturday afternoon, a number of prominent right-wing/anti-vax accounts on X (formerly Twitter) — including Kandiss Taylor, a former Republican candidate for governor of Georgia and current GOP chair of Georgia’s 1st congressional district (and who also recently compared Taylor Swift to Satan) — were quick to blame the actor’s death on Perry being vaccinated for Covid-19 — even before an official cause of death had been established.

If that weren’t enough, anti-vaxxers edited Perry’s Wikipedia page to say, “It is unclear whether the drowning was due to complications from the COVID-19 vaccine.” (It has since been deleted.)

Dr Peter Hotez just tweeted that he notices many Sudden Deaths among his friends, all of them being "Champions of Global Health".
So Hotez unwittingly joins the worldwide trend of "died suddenly" and "died unexpectedly" reports.

And Captain Clueluess is baffled about the causes..

You honestly can't make this stuff up.

"Overwork? Exhaustion?" asks Peter.

Gee, I don't know why your friends are just dropping dead, Peter. Climate change, perhaps?

Baffling!

The answer to Matthew's question is "no".

I am amazed to learn that there is a thing called the 'Anthony Fauci Courage in Leadership Award'.

It's certainly one to display on your mantelpiece, right next to the 'Kim Jong-Un Excellence in Democracy Award'.
