As regards the Thai sub under construction, until it is agreed what engine will be installed the pressure hull cannot be completed. As far as I know, large units have to be installed prior to pressure hull closure due to lack of access once completed. The completion date, sea trials and acceptance are out of sight in the future.

Guess they fit well with the F 35's falling out of the sky, Thailand also wants.

Can one blame them? China is not exactly wearing their power with grace and dignity. They are a major bully.

Initially they requested holes thru' the hull so they could fit galley oars but decided against it as rain could get in during the wet session. 

 

But jokes aside, seems they have requested the leading engineers in the country to look at modifying tuk-tuk engines for submarine use, this is following a lengthy report that water-proof power extension leads weren't viable for electric motor propulsion.

It was the Republic of China (aka Taiwan) that first made that claim back in 1947 (before the founding of the PRC), with the blessing of the United States. In 1946, the ROC had sent warships which were given by the US to occupy the Spratlys and Paracels islands. Some of the islands were named after the ROC warships that were sent there.

 

Here's one of the warship:

How do you equate a bad decision by Taiwan to claim these islands, with the CCP claiming the entire South China Sea? It would be like the US claiming the entire Caribbean. It is a toxic, heinous, ugly overreach by a nation that is abusing the power they now have.
