Popularity is not necessarily an indicator of originality or authenticity. He used the style of songs for life to become popular, then when established became part of the establishment. Never what they were meant to be or to represent, a hollowed out facade of the voice of the people, mostly for drunken disaffected youths and the poor who they ultimately let down, IMO.

Yeah, I was going to note that to judge music solely on the basis of popularity or commercial success is little more than a bandwagon appeal.

 

Right now there are any number of ten year-old musical prodigies on YouTube who can play circles around all of us.

OK, you can, however too old for music? But if you dont like the hassle, you just cut down on performances, take of "pressure?"

They did covers Sek Loso etc. Tight band.

 

My all time favorite Thai performing artist!  I was fotunate to see him perform live a couple of years ago at a concert in Amnat Charoen!  He'll definitely be missed, but his music legacy will live on forever!

One of my favorite songs, when I was a monk in Lopburi, was the one about Luang Pho Koon.  We would play it over and over,

They were legendary up until they sold out to their supposed principles - in or around 1997.

If you read Aed's autobiography, he was very clear that they were in it to get rich right from the beginning. They got screwed over by record companies in the early days, so I think they were very focused on the business side. You'll find Thais who dislike them will tell you they sold out way before 1997. I can remember often being told in the early 90s that you wouldn't listen to them if you knew what they were really like. Aed surrounded himself with some unpleasant people who let him down at times I believe.
They've had a good music career and probably done some good along the way. I got to go to their Center Stage studio a couple of times and they looked after the people working for them very well, quite a big staff at the time, which was one of the band's justifications for their commercial decisions.

You are not a Thai,they like Carrabao compered to most/nearly all, Thai bubblegum music they are good ,and they have lasted a long time,as I said they are alright a tight band.

And for some reason they like The Corrs over here.
