In response to incidents involving transgender women causing disturbances to foreign tourists around Pattaya Beach, actions are being undertaken to address the situation.

 

Reports include theft, disputes, and physical harm. Authorities expressed concerns over the negative impact on Pattaya's tourism image and stressed the need for systematic solutions, reported Daily News.

 

On October 24th, officials from the Pattaya Tourist Police collaborated with related agencies to detain 20 transgender individuals suspected of causing disturbances.

Additionally, more than 50 individuals considered high-risk were identified, their personal information such as current residence and reasons for staying in Pattaya were recorded.

 

The information collected will be stored in the "Mutchanu TPB" application developed by the investigating team to categorize suspects. This data can be accessed via Line instantaneously if an incident occurs. 

 

The tourist police urge anyone witnessing disruptive behavior towards tourists to immediately report through the hotline 1155 or the "Police Tourist i lert u" app.

But, could you imagine the uproar and lawsuits in the west especially in the U.S. if the cops did this? No way they could get away with it.

- Have all the TV aound the table been charged previously with theft or similar?

 

- How many more exist and are regularly actively involved with theft, harrassment of folks on Beach Road (or any road), but didn't get an invite.

 

Seems to me this 'event' lacks credibility for many reasons.

If they are so concerned why have they not taken serious decicive action, years ago, to stop this activity by imposing very high fines, jail sentences, confiscation of property suspected of being obtained by less than ethical means, etc

 

Steep enough that it really frightens them off.

Speaking of imagining things, your comment is pure baseless fiction. I'm from the US, 66 years.  The cops in the US are actually attacking trans people and making their lives miserable. They're getting away with it. There is no predatory theft and violence being committed by trans people in the US like in Thailand, so there is no equivalency whatsoever. If it WAS a problem no one would complain about them being detained for probable cause. So the US cops ARE a problem. And cops who violate people's rights ARE getting sued, and rightfully so. Lawsuits aren't the problem. HUMAN  rights are the problem. It's the right wing and white supremacists in the US who are threatening, ostracizing, assaulting, and murdering transgender and gay people in the US. The right wing congress is fostering and promoting malicious homophobia and violence against LGBTQ people. You might want to avoid commenting with your imaginary scenarios which are based on little or no real information, and certainly you ought not comment on countries which you haven't lived in and seen first hand. And if you happen to be American, then you should know better and ought to be ashamed. Meanwhile no harm is actually coming to these Thai ladyboys, unlike in the US. When walking at Pattaya Beach, in the evening, I've several times nearly had a fight with ladyboys not letting me pass, and tried to grab me. I've stopped walking there now, because there's too much marijuana smoke as well.

I am probably tucked up in bed well before ladyboys go on the prowl for victims or clients.

You are wise to cease walking there, about one-third of regular marijuana users become psychotic. It's not a good combination with the fragile mental state ladyboys are in.

It's not good to see... police violating the rights of citizens by detaining them without charge due to profiling. I'm sure it's against the law in Thailand too, but they don't expect any of them to contact their lawyers.

How longhave you been in Thailand? The fines are derisory (or non-existent) because an ability to actually pay the fine has to be taken into consideration. Hence the paltry and monthly splurges fining people for not wearing a helmet - it has to be affordable and of an amount that isn't going to create another problem. Most Thais dont have "disposable" income and either cant pay or simply wont.
