Queen Rania of Jordan attacks the West over ‘double standards’ response to Israel Gaza war

Queen Rania of Jordan has accused Western countries of “aiding and abetting” the killing of Palestinians by supporting Israel’s war against Hamas.

The monarch also accused those backing Israel’s bombing of Gaza in response to Hamas’s terror attack as an example of Western “double standards”.

“The people all around the Middle East, including in Jordan, we are just shocked and disappointed by the world’s reaction to this catastrophe that is unfolding,” she told CNN.

“In the last couple of weeks, we have seen a glaring double standard in the world.”

The monarch added: “When October 7 happened, the world immediately and unequivocally stood by Israel and its right to defend itself and condemned the attack that happened … but what we’re seeing in the last couple of weeks, we’re seeing silence in the world.

“Many in the Arab world are looking at the Western world as not just tolerating this…but aiding and abetting it.”

Queen Rania’s comments came as Israel and Hamas continued bombing each other, with airstrikes in Gaza killing more than 750 people between Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the territory’s health ministry.

The Israeli military said its strikes had killed militants and destroyed tunnels, command centers, weapons storehouses and other military targets, which it has accused Hamas of hiding among Gaza’s civilian population.

Gaza-based militants have also been launching unrelenting rocket barrages into Israel since the conflict started.

The death toll, following a reported 704 killed the day before, was unprecedented in the decades-long Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Even greater loss of life could come when Israel launches an expected ground offensive aimed at crushing Hamas militants.

Well, considering she's a Palestinian herself, that would be expected. Also, Jordan's population being about 70% Palestinian would make any Jordanian leader pause before making even-handed comments, not to mention being critical of Hamas or Palestinians in general.

Kinda amusing coming from an extra privileged hi-so of Palestinian in a country where ordinary Palestinian citizens still face discrimination.

But she is hot. There's that.

She is the typical belligerently uninformed celebrity type, who often get too much time on tv to spread their nonsense.

"When October 7th happened..." sounds like she is talking about a natural disaster or an unfortunate traffic accident. Totally dismissive of the horror and dread inflicted. She was being so off base that even Christiane Amanpour, no friend of Israel, was trying to rein her in and get her to stop spouting nonsense.

Maybe SHE should ask for a viewing of the terrorists' body cam footage of the atrocities they committed, listen to the interviews with captured Hamas terrorists where they boast about their crimes, and then open her pie hole.

Or she is a reasonably well educated human who has an opinion... Shocking, eh?

Good for her.

It's apparently becoming a west against the Middle East situation. Just wait for OPEC to turn off the oil taps like they did in the 70s.

Mr. Anti-West speaks, the representative of terrorists on this forum....:ermm:

Well educated and well informed are not the same thing. Just look at the drek and idiocy going on in the US on so many so-called elite university campuses.  And the uninformed hatred being spewed by the professors.

Can't wait for you to realize that Saudi Arabia and the UAE are not Hamas fans.

When Israeli and Western leaders say something, you often go on about it being dishonest, covering some hidden agenda, directed at their base and so on. The interests in Queen Rania's case are far more obvious. Yet somehow, you manage to take her comments at face value.

She's informed, alright. This isn't about her being ignorant. She's just saying what (a) she politically have to say, and (b) what suits her sentiments. You could say she was disingenuous, spreading falsehoods, pushing a narrative or any other thing. But uninformed she is not. IMO, makes it worse.

Fair enough. I can see how that makes sense.  She may also deliberately ignore any media or information that does not agree with her preconceptions, but yeah I can understand what you mean.

Well educated is objective. Well informed is subjective. I do not agree with your subjective assessment.
