How to complaint about a local agency?

A foreigner freelancer was hired by a local agency to provide certain technical service,

The service was planned to serve an international event (global conference) for a few days event,

Afterwards, the agency did not pay him, even they ignored to just send a feedback or any explanation,

In this case, where he can go to complaint about this? to Thai police?

Are there any agencies or organizations that defend on the labor and workers right??

Indeed. If he did work illegally, going to police to complain about it would not be a wise thing to do. There aren't many option in that case, as pretty much all would backfire.

He may not get his wage, but I would definately think social media would have more of an impact then any bureaucratic entitiy in Thailand having to handle a foreigner complaining.

 

But then, never had to use them so this is just a shared feeling and not a guideline per se.

Nonsense, you need a work permit if you work, even if it is voluntary work. On a retirement visa you are not allowed to work.

As a freelancer you don't get a work permit, so going to the police complaining while you don't have a work permit would be a good story to post here. Can do with a laugh.

Non B or a non -O (what) retirement or marriage??

 

Work in Thailand and earn money one needs a work permit, no 2 buts about it freelance or working for govt, it seem the people employing you are doing it illegally.

 

BTW one assumes the sums paid are over the taxable thresholds so one would assume you are following the tax laws to submit tax returns and pay taxes.

Sorry man, but... no. You could also be a driver for a government official without a driver's license if nobody checks whether you have one. But that doesn't mean you are not required to have one to drive. He flew under the radar "for years" in doing illegal jobs. Many people do. However that doesn't make it legal. But do ask him to go ahead and report it. And please do let us know how that goes. Big Joke needs new cases. Hasn't been in the news for a while...

This is not "Globally", this is Thailand. Foreigners doing temporary work needs to my knowledge a temporary work permit, which is possible to obtain.

However, it's quite interesting, if there are job-options as freelancer in Thailand without a work permit; do you have a link to more information about that?

Has violence been threatened? Violence seems to be the go to device these days to seek justice. Authorities and agencies don't care anymore. Very sad.
