Region 8 Police of Thailand organized a comprehensive training program entitled "Active Shooter Training," initiated by Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapong Thanomjit, the commander of Region 8 Police.

The training was presided over by Pol. Maj. Gen. Saranyu Chamnanrach, acting deputy commander of Region 8 Police. This program took place from November 10 to 12, 2023, at the International College of Tourism of Surat Thani Rajabhat University, reported Daily News.

The training was a collaborative effort, involving key personnel like Pol. Maj. Gen. Sak Sira Pheukam, Pol. Col. Piyarach Supharatn, Pol. Col. Yuthana Sirisombat, and Pol. Col. Krairit Ngamsri-on, among others. They provided expertise in handling critical incidents involving active shooters, as per the directives of Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimol, the national police chief, and his deputies.

In response to an increase in shooting incidents in Thailand, such as those in Nakhon Ratchasima, Nong Bua Lamphu, and tourist spots like Siam Paragon, the training aimed to equip police officers with knowledge, skills, and tactics for effectively managing such crises. The course covered various aspects, including hostage situations, negotiation strategies, patrol techniques, and universally adopted tactical responses.

Participants in the training included 76 police officers from Bo Phut Police Station, Samui Police Station, and Tourist Police Division 5, along with 252 civilians, comprising local government officials, tourism association members, and security personnel in Koh Samui.

The program emphasized survival strategies like "Run, Hide, Fight" and prepared participants for high-pressure situations, ensuring both public and officer safety. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance public confidence in the Thai police's ability to manage critical incidents and protect citizens.

Here, the Thai Police could invite  in American Police ... as they have the most mass shooting incidents in the world (don't jump before considering that I am speaking of my own country ... and in condemnation).
