Suella Braverman calls for ‘further action’ against pro-Palestine marches

Suella Braverman has demanded “further action” against pro-Palestine marches, as centrist Conservative MPs expressed despair at Rishi Sunak’s delay in sacking his rogue home secretary.

One senior backbencher predicted “a lot of noise” from angry colleagues when they return to parliament on Monday, with no signs of imminent action from Sunak after a series of controversies involving Braverman.

 

Another MP said: “Every day she remains in office it further undermines the prime minister’s authority.”

In her first public pronouncement since far-right groups fought officers near the Cenotaph, the home secretary made no comment on claims by Labour and the Met police that tensions had been inflamed in part by her own rhetoric.

Condemning violence among both a large pro-Palestine demonstration and what she termed “counterprotesters”, Braverman focused on what she called “sick, inflammatory and, in some cases, clearly criminal chants, placards and paraphernalia openly on display” at the main march.

Writing on X, she said: “This can’t go on. Week by week, the streets of London are being polluted by hate, violence, and antisemitism. Members of the public are being mobbed and intimidated. Jewish people in particular feel threatened. Further action is necessary.”

Last week Braverman provoked fury after she ignored Downing Street’s request that she tone down an opinion piece for the Times, in which she accused the police of bias in how they deal with political protests.

He should have fired her on the spot the moment she broke the ministerial code, the PM has absolute authority to do so.

Braverman is absolutely correct. The Met police are a disgrace, ignoring the anti semitism, calls for Jihad and violence from the Pro Palestine mob while cracking down hard on the small number of counter protestors (which the BBC and the Guardian then focus their reporting on). Absolutely pathetic.

 

Let's hope Sunak resigns and Braverman gets the top job. The UK needs strong leadership right now, not a weak lily livered PM like Sunak.

I agree that Sunak is weak but is it fair to say that the left are scared of Suella Braverman because she has the courage of her convictions. She is the only Tory MP holding the Party together at the moment, get rid of her and Labour will have a easy ride to victory. And I think you'll agree that the last thing that the UK needs at this moment is an anti-Semitic Labour Government!

Awww it's nice to know you missed me.

 

I was at the gym in the morning, a long lunch with friends at Wine Connection in the afternoon and then watched Last Stop Larimar on Netflix in the evening. Given the fact you follow me around the forum I'm surprised you haven't noticed I rarely post at weekends, only during office hours in the week. That's what happens when you have a social life.

 

No ban for me. That's why I've had the same account for 16 years. Unlike you with a fresh one every few weeks.

 

I stand by my assessment that the police are too cowardly to arrest the thousands shouting anti semitic chants or calling for Jihad, easier to go after a handful of counter protestors or some grandpa tweeting hurty words, or maybe another autistic girl who noticed an officer looked like her lesbian nana. Or maybe they could go back to shooting the dogs of a homeless man with mental health issues? Low hanging fruit and all that. The Met Police are utterly pathetic. An embarrassment to the nation.

We do not need you to tell us the history of your day, no one is interested.

 

As you seem to know so much about the Met, can you tell us what your experience, knowledge, training and possible police rank was, so we can judge if you are qualified to pass such comments.

 

Or was it all something you saw on youtube, like normal.

You don't need to have worked for The Met to see that they are ignoring the hate speech of the Pro Palestine marches. In fact, I'd argue someone who has never been involved with such a pathetic, cowardly organization is in a better position to comment than someone who has.

She’s running her mouth on all the issues that are nowhere near the concerns of voters as the General Election approaches.

 

Her politics of division and negativity were well in place ahead of the recent bi-elections and yet the Tories got trounced.

 

She’s courting rightwing extremists who figure high in the Tory Party but low in amongst the voting public.

You seem to think the fire service does not work with the police, 55555. Maybe if you had incident command knowledge, you would know about the UK gold, silver and bronze incident command structures. I have been silver and bronze commander on many incidents, protest demonstrations and political conferences. If you really interested I was seconded for two years to the Met, for the implementation of the UK, Crime and Disorder Bill 1998, and enjoyed going through the police riot and civil disturbance training.

 

My experience has taught me that you are the type of persons that would not survive one day in the police, without sh**ting your pants.

God forbid the people be allowed to protest extremist and genocidal Israeli policy. That's not to say that I sympathize with Hamas, I don't on any level, but the constant slaughter of women and children is not accomplishing anything but the generation of additional hatred, animosity, and the delaying of anything resembling a solution.
