Off topic,

I live in a Thai gated CM community of 250 middle class households.

Only 1 attractive woman in the entire community, so I conclude that Thai guys can't get the good looking girls either, unless as paid escorts. Don't think it's most guys have no taste, more like most guys can't afford a pretty one for more than an hour or two.

Back to the OP,

If you look at the video of the incident in the restaurant, only one pretty Thai girl there as well, and she doesn't appear to be with the ranting cop. The ranting cop doesn't have any taste either!

Living in a "gated community" sounds like a recipe for fugglies, male and female.

Does the security guard salute?🙃🙃

Happens much more in Aberdeen or Leith. Thai police are similar to the Mob in NY. They are 'made men' and are untouchable. Can you imagine a mobster in NY being told not to smoke by a foreigner!

That is an excellent analogy - never thought of it like that - but it sure fits.

That is very funny, thank you for bringing a smile to my face. I used to live on Samui, and I would see quite a few guys with hot women, but you're right, on the mainland I don't see that too much. I'm often shocked to see good looking guys that are fairly fit, with old women that are not attractive, but like you say a lot of guys just don't have good taste.

I also think this is self-esteem issue, I think some guys just do not think they deserve a good looking woman, or perhaps they are afraid of the attention a pretty woman attracts?

Excellent - I think the latter. Their self-doubt means that having someone attractive to others will be a negative.

Perhaps - although here unlike (possibly) some countries which were colonised in the past, it has been there own higherarchy who have been telling them to keep their heads bowed.

It actually makes me feel quite uncomfortable when Thais bow down their heads when they pass in front of me - although I understand that it is just being polite.

Just nod back and all will be good - and do the same when you walk in front of somone (but just a nod).  Thais do that because that is how the social system works here and you can either go along with it, or get in there and get involved. Fascinating people - both their good points and their bad ones too.

Never sit anywhere near Thai males who are drinking.

Pretty soon the conversation will revolve around the farang.

If you have your Thai Mrs along, even worse.

Yes indeed - once they start getting 'rowdy' the best course of action is to finish up and quietly leave.

Dont just move tables - that can easily be taken the wrong way.

why, in your opinion, do you think this is?

I've noticed the same btw.

Because they have had racist comments directed at them. 'Jek' is a word I have used to Chinese Thais when they say farang in a certain way, they hate that.

Interestingly, on my way back to London, I was sitting next to a drunk black guy who complained about all the Muslim immigrants.

whereas too many of us dress like vagrants.

Yes, like vagrants and most like garbage collectors.

This is why I always sport the PREPPY Look, with pressed slacks and polished shoes of high quality.

Pinpoint Oxford is my shirt of choice.

Perhaps to you they do. Is it possible  that it might have something to do with you rather than them?

20 years in Thailand and I never , not one, nada problem.

Why is that?

Thai people are no more racist than most people in the world.

That's not to say that some of them are not, just no more than some other nationalities.

A drunk person, doing drunk things. What a surprises.

No drunk person does anything like that in the West??

Google it,.You would be reading about incidence like that all day.

nonscene..  it is everywhere...  thais will listen to other thais telling the story of what happened and ignore the farangs version, hell, the repair men even tell thair lifes story to my BG ....  I say hey, she knows nothing and will not pay you ,,,

The list is endless...  park fees...  have a traffic accident, farangs are expected to pay.. endless....  but in western countries it tends to lean the other way..  authorities side more with the imigrants as they are scared of

getting  labelled as racists...  so....
