FlashGot is an Ad-On for Firefox which disabled the integrated Download Manager but let you use the one of your Choice. The Software is FREEWARE.

""FlashGot, the best Firefox download manager integration, has been honored in the May 2006 issue of PC World, the most widely-read computer or business magazine, as one of the "101 Fabulous Freebies"

"Each download or service on the list impressed the editors with its functionality and usability,” said Harry McCracken, VP/editor in chief of PC World. "These are some of the most well-crafted services available – congratulations to FlashGot!" .....""

I by default use the Firefox plugin DownThemAll, which is one of the many free firefox add-ons and works great. You can download this add-on by opening in your Firefox browser "Tools->Add-Ons" select in the bottom right corner "Get Extensions". With this a new Firefox window will open and here you can search for "Downthemall"

Of course you free to look around and select any other helpful add-on or Theme..............

OH, thank you! But I use a payware Version of IDA (Internet Daownload Accelerator) under Firefox!

Anyway, feel free to use the AddOn which you like as I do for myself! I just showed a FREEWARE to others which I tested on one of my computer and found it usefull and easy to use. And of course, there a lot others available and anyone can choose what they want to use!

EDIT:

May forget to mention that many have some software already and know how to use. So FlashGot enables you to use the software you have. Thats an advantage.

Yes there are so many download managers that it depends highly on the "taste" of the user, no user is the same, some like strawberry and the other prefer cherries still they both fruit.

One of the main reason why I use DownThemAll is that I not have on user interface on all the operating platforms I use, Linux, MS Windows and Apple OS X.

By all means I not want to say that DownThemAll is the fastest or the best in error recovery, it just my taste, not to sweet and not to heavy.
