A petrol tanker overturned and caught fire in Phetchaburi province, severely injuring the driver who was engulfed in flames.

The vehicle, completely damaged in the incident, is suspected to have veered off course due to the driver potentially falling asleep. This mishap occurred at 12.24am, as reported by Phetchaburi’s Emergency Response Centre.

The ten-wheeler petrol tanker with licence plate number 71-4307 from Pathum Thani province, unexpectedly flipped and burst into flames. This unfortunate event took place on the bypass road in Cha-Am, in front of the Rajaprajanugroh 47 School in Phetchaburi province. As a result, the local authorities, led by police officer Patcharawal Ritthichai, were alerted. Assistance was immediately sought from the fire truck of the Cha-Am municipality.

At the scene of the accident, rescue teams from Sawang Sapphasit Cha-Am and Sirin Cha-Am found that the petrol tanker driver, who had been severely burnt all over his body, was in critical condition. The injured individual, identified as 30 year old Kowit Lavong, was immediately rushed to the Cha-Am hospital for urgent medical treatment, reported KhaoSod.

I think most of us would find it quite difficult to overturn a tanker or any other large vehicle, but it seems that Thais have a skill that we lack.

With the highways is clogged as they are here, it's an absolute miracle this kind of thing does not happen more often.

70 years of neglect on the part of the government when it comes to the movement of cargo and the development of a railway cargo network, has resulted in some of the most clogged highways in the world.
