A pregnant Burmese woman turned to social media to convey her heart-wrenching disappointment and appeal to a thief for the return of gold accessories valued at over 240,000 baht, which were stolen from her.

The Burmese victim shared an image of now-empty gold containers along with a video capturing her emotional plea on social media. In the video, she tearfully disclosed that the stolen gold accessories constituted her sole possessions.

These items were intended to be sold to cover the hospital expenses for delivering her baby. She earnestly implored the thief to show compassion and return the valuable items.

Channel 3 later interviewed the pregnant woman about the theft. The 26 year old victim revealed that she had been working as a maid in Thailand for more than 10 years and kept buying gold accessories until she had 240,000 worth of gold.

She earned 24,000 a year for 10 years = 2000 a month.  Obviously a live-in position with free food/drink.

She saved 2,000 baht per month [on average] which she used to buy gold for ten years so she could afford to have a baby.

Do you really think this woman began saving for paying hospital bills to have a baby at the age of 16? How many young girls or even women think they will not have a man married to them to pay for having a baby, especially a Burmy? Also, think about the photo. Very odd the thief would take the time in her home to open all and remove the gold from their packaging. Then there is the normal thing almost all Burmy do with their money. Send it back home to their families. Especially at such a young age.

No I don't think so... I just quoted the correction in the post...

I don't think she was robbed, certainly not 240,000 baht. If she had that much money in gold she most likely would have been back in Myanmar living well.

Wrong, she save 2k a month

Well she would not need to save 2000 per month for 10 years since the price of gold fluctuates and especially recently it has sky rocketed due to gold tied to us$ .

Maybe every time she saved enough 1 baht bought at going rate . 10 years ago 18.000 maybe buy I baht gold now worth what 35000?

Interesting how the thief carefully emptied all the boxes and left them instead of pocketing them, very neat and very thoughtful for taking the time and not rushing.

Same happened in my home previously had bundles of 100k for paying a bill (medical) and they were in a 'safe'.

Person unbundled, mixed together and took about 130,000 out of it.

Was a shock.

Obviously had been listening/watching over a long time and heard a pin being discussed for something else and chanced it on the safe.

The jewelry would take up less room in his/her pockets or bag. Standard 'sneak thief' trick.

What a callous attitude you have.

Exactly what I was skirting around without saying the supposed theft is a nonsense.

It is very obvious that you've never had a low paying job position, and had a scrape by to save 2,000 baht per month. Your lack of compassion knows no bounds.

Gosh thats sad......the only advice one can offer, is to go down Pattaya Beach way about 3 am---

--if in luck there might be a Chai Waller wandering along with a 5 baht Chain hanging off of him.........:w00t:

Well here's another sneak thief trick for you to ponder. The thief removes the jewelry from the containers, replaces the lids and puts them back exactly where he found them.

Chances are the theft will go unnoticed for long enough for the perp to fence the pieces leaving no trace of his involvement.

I am very compassionate about this woman.  I am questioning the Maths.  According to the figures she spent nothing in 10 years!  2K in & 2K out every month?
