We are quoting ages because this is the subject of the topic we are discussing. The reason I said its a grey area is because many people think the age of consent in Thailand is 15 and not 18 as it is between Thai and Foreigner. Is it not the expectation of a customer who visits a bar to assume a girl is at least 18 years old? But as we know this is not the case. The problem over here in Thailand is that many many girls especially the smaller ones look young and underage but are in their twenties.

The problem with people like yourself is that you think you are morally right to lecture other people. Of course it is wrong to actively groom a young child under the age of consent especially if it then turns into something sexual. It is different if a tourist visits a bar and goes with a girl and she turns out to be underage. This goes back to my statement that its a grey area in the minds of the tourist, but I agree not in the eyes of the law. 

By the way, there is absolutely nothing wrong with meeting a girl in a gogo and marrying her. My wife is a diamond, she demands nothing from me and I certainly do not pay her a salary or anything like a lottery win.

My understanding is that 15 is the legal age of consent but if the woman is between 15-18 she may make a complaint;

From the link below;

Nothing to do with what I think or grey areas, it's a matter for the law and commonly held principals, which agree that children should not be employed as prostitutes. Sex tourists in their late 50's seeking out teenage bar girls and thus supporting illegality in a business mired in corruption, depression, exploitation and drug abuse are morally reprehensible, and bordering on abusers. You brought your ex bargirl wife into the discussion as some sort of justification for under aged girls in the sex industry, it's not.

You really have a problem with the bar and entertainment industry here in Thailand don't you. What is your problem? You seem to assume that everyone who visits a bar is a sex tourist, this is way off the mark. I know many people who just come here to have a good time with friends, some even bring their foreign partners.

Its very widespread across the North in particular and its also almost certain that it goes on with the knowledge of the local police. There are many bars and karaokes that offer girls much younger than 15.

 

Of course, they don't want this becoming 'common knowledge' and tarnishing the country's 'good' reputation.

 

If an adult chooses that career path, up to them - it should be legalised but kids?  Hang the people who run such operations and their customers.

I have always wondered what It must be like living a life with an old woman might be Thai probably Farang. How would one cope she cant cook, falls asleep on the sofa all the time and her genitals have closed up through lack of use.
