Popular Post webfact Posted December 8, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 8, 2023 On December 8th, 2023, at 3:00 PM, news broke that a taxi driver, Mr. Thongchan, had returned 62,240 Baht to its rightful owner, Mr. Thannawat, who had left the money in the backseat of the pink taxi with the license plate TOS 6565 in Bangkok. The incident occurred near Lad Yao, Chatuchak District, at the communication police station of the National Police Bureau. Mr. Sakol Thaworakanjan, the Head of the Organizational Communication Department at radio station SWP.FM91, and Ms. Jittapong Sreewangphan, the Director of the Human Resources and Volunteer Relations Department, acted as witnesses. They accompanied Mr. Thongchan as he handed back the substantial sum, providing a statement that attested to the good deed, reported Siam Rath. Previously, Mr. Thongchan had discovered a bag with a distinctive brown-cream pattern containing coins and banknotes inside his taxi during his morning cleaning routine. The total amount, 62,240 Baht, bewildered him as he had never encountered such a large sum before. Surprised by the discovery, he decided to promptly contact SWP.91, not considering keeping the money for himself. Picture: Siam Rath In an interview, Mr. Thongchan expressed his shock at finding such a significant amount of money and clarified that he had no intention of keeping it. He believed the owner might be distressed and would likely need the funds for some important purpose. Little did he anticipate the owner's relief and gratitude when Mr. Thannawat came forward to reclaim the forgotten money. Mr. Thannawat shared that he had left the bag in the taxi while traveling from Don Mueang to Soi Sukhumvit 31 on the evening of December 7th. Unaware of the taxi's registration details, he visited the radio station to report the loss and later identified the taxi using CCTV footage at his condominium. The money, approximately 60,000 Baht, was intended for his child's tuition fees. Grateful for the honesty and integrity shown, Mr. Thannawat expressed immense joy upon the safe return of his funds and extended heartfelt thanks to the taxi driver and SWP.FM91 for facilitating the reunion.
