I have no Idea. I live here for 40plus years I get a full pension with all the extras of about AUD 1200 per fortnight. Let's say you live in Sydney or Melbourne and pay rent of 600 bucks how much do you have left?

Nothing. You can't even afford the basics. The only way you can afford to live on the dole is dealing in drugs or robberies.

I wouldn't read too much into the BS provided to you earlier about not having to work a day in your life and bringing back a girl from overseas.

 

The above said, if you don't work in Australia, you will have a pitiful existence, and as for bringing a girl back, well maybe on a tourist visa for 3 months, but after that, any long term application has to be backed up with a sponsorship, i.e. $ in the bank, and if they see that you can't support her, she has Buckley's of getting in.

 

Moral of the story, don't believe everything you hear, especially on forums.

Have you ever heard of a Prenuptial Agreement, it forms part of the Family Law Act and is there to protect those of us who have worked hard and accumulated assets. Please don't try and tell me that it isn't worth the paper it's written on, as I know in the UK it isn't worth the paper it's written on, but in Australia it forms part of the Family Law Act, as mentioned, in the UK it doesn't, hence the reason it went to $hit.

Ever heard of Asia girls / families paying westerners to sign papers for PR / Citizenship.  I'll bet that deal is quite attractive for someone on Centerlink, not to mention some bedroom action thrown in as well.

We are not talking about people who have worked and accumulated assets.  We are talking about people who have never worked, except for maybe some cash on the side, then reach retirement age, and can retire with a Thai girl, probably half their age. 

 

If you haven't accumulated any assets, there's no need for a pre-nup.

Housing Commission areas, now known as Department of Housing I believe.  Basically,  slums.  Single mother pensioners living with the father / boyfriend who's on the dole, who shouldn't be living there.  Based on how many kids there are, they can bring in more welfare a fortnight into the house than someone who works.  

 

Not skewed at all.  The "hand up" has become a "hand out" and many have chosen it as a lifestyle.
