Analysis: ‘House Arrest’ For Privileged Convict Thaksin Imminent

THE PRIVILEGED DE FACTO PHEU THAI boss-cum-convict at large Thaksin Shinawatra is currently speculated to be returned home from Police Hospital shortly and be held in sort of a “house arrest” there.

The privileged patient who has been staying for the secrecy-shrouded “illnesses” in a tight-security, private ward at Police Hospital since the last four months is now expected to enjoy even more privileges granted by a regulation recently issued by the Corrections Department for “detainment” of convicts outside of a prison which could probably refer to a hospital or living quarters somewhere, according to a political observer personally associated with partisan sources.

The regulation allegedly designed for the benefit of the deposed prime minister could probably be effective after his extended stay at Police Hospital has exceeded a 120-day period next week. The “house arrest” of Thaksin could practically refer to any residential lodging of his choice, such as his Chan Song Lah residence on the Thonburi side of the capital.

Importantly, the “house arrest” might probably only take a few months before the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict at large is released on parole by the upcoming February.

“All conceivable ways and means ranging from the compromising of the judicial procedures to the granting of special privileges and use of legal loopholes have been taken to satisfy him.

  • Anyone surprised? Not a single day of proper jail time served. Was never going to happen and never will do. Welcome home Thaksin!

  • Way of the world. You got lots of money, you are above the law.    You have little or no money, the law comes down on you to the extreme.

  • Well, who'd have guessed that? 🙄🙄🙄 And the masses responded with....silence! I think they deserve all they get for being so submissive, I mean, 68 million who just bend and cop it? No sympathy here!

Amazing how laws can be changed with no problems at all if they suit the right people.

Privileged says it all... but then did we expect anything different in the land of anything goes.

I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here....

That´s awesome! Now the people can see the first steps of the comeback of a convict PM. However, not very different from anything else.

Eventually, he will end up being a Prime Minister here, but then change the law completely completely, and allow his sister to come back, and all is well in the land of smiles TIT

I expected this to happen next february .

Only hope that the thai people do not forget about the stolen election and broken promises .

And vote this corrupt clan out .

In Thailand the rich can buy ' their ' justice .

Just like in some ' banana republic ' .

And then , they want to be taken for serious on the international political scene ...

Nothing is fair or correct or according to the law here .

The law is for the poor and not ' connected ' people only .

Just a bad joke ...

Altogether now ,

Tie a red ribbon

Around the old mango tree

It's  been several long weeks

Do you still want me

If I don't  see a ribbon around the old mango tree

I'll  just stay in my Benz

Forget about being PM

And put the blame on them

If I don't see a ribbon around the old mango tree

There are apparently fewer anti-T forces among the Thai general population than on this forum.

I reckon his years of exile might pose part of an appropriate punishment for his alleged crimes.

Also don’t expect his confinement at hospital has been all donuts  and dancing girls either.

Was his crime worse than Nixon’s, who spent how much time in any kind of confinement?

Welcome home dear leader. Get well soon!

Up to them, I am just an observer with zero influence.

Yes,  Ex Convict running the joint, sounds about right....

He killed Move Forward, he killed Pheu Thai and enabled the army and their followers to cling to power and he gets his freedom in return. Sounds like a good deal for them and him. Once the big family get their coming reboot it will be just like old times again until the next crisis.

… in Thailand. Didn’t work out well for Madoff or myriad wealthy others in the rest of the universe.

  • Popular Post

Obviously, that is no surprise.

What I still find amazing that Thai people again and again vote for (often the same) corrupt politicians and then they somehow expect to have an honest and competent government. That is mission impossible. Is that really so difficult to understand?

  • Popular Post

Good for him!! Played the system perfectly! Soon he and his sister will be able to do more good things for the exploited good  hard working  Thai people of the north.

Many people yek yek here about " rule of law ". Doesn't exist here unconditionally. But thankfully little people will finally have a champion again.

Yes ! He might have gained  personality in times  past , but show me a leader anywhere in the world that hasn't.  Mandel might be an exception but that was a anti-coloniest exception. Never considered her in Thai

Long live Thaksin and Yingluck to take it too the establishment.
