A tragic incident struck a passenger van when one of its tyres unexpectedly burst, leading to the vehicle colliding with a tree. This unfortunate event resulted in one fatality and several injuries.

 

The accident transpired at 5am today on Rojana Road, en route to Ayutthaya, near both a school and a PTT petrol station. The van had been commissioned by a group of workers who were returning to Bangkok from Nakhon Phanom.

 

The van, a white Toyota with Bangkok plates, was found wedged against a roadside tree. The front of the vehicle was heavily damaged with debris scattered across the road.

 

One female passenger seated at the front was found dead, while 15 other passengers sustained injuries. They were all rushed to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital.

 The driver did not have a good grip on the steering wheel. I had a front tyre burst on a 1965 Plymouth when doing 115mph. The car floated till it got down to about 50mph then I had to hold the wheel real tight till it got down to 30mph and settled onto the rim.

Van Driver Captured After Fatal Accident in Ayutthaya

At 1:00 PM, on January 3rd, 2024, Ayutthaya police officers captured a van driver at a hotel in Hua Ro Market, Ayutthaya, after the van’s tire exploded and collided with a tree, resulting in one casualty and fifteen injuries.

 

According to a report by the police, the van driver who was publicly identified only as Mr. Chatchai, 49, reportedly stated that he was heading to Bangkok and Samut Prakan after carrying 15 passengers from Nakhon Phanom.

 

However, the van lost control at an intersection in the Pratu Chai Subdistrict in Ayutthaya after the tire exploded and collided with a tree at night, said Chatchai to the police.
